HIS MASTER PLAN
In 1999, when he was 32, he developed a 20-year plan for his fledgling
businesses with the help of a mentor. His goal : Become the country's
leader in each of 12 sectors by 2019. He succeeded in 9 sectors by
2013.He now controls 23 listed companies on the Colombo Stock
Exchange. Perera owns a controlling stake in Hayleys and Vallibel One,
a company he founded.
HOW DID HE START?
Dhammika Perera began his entrepreneurial journey as a teenager by
investing in a street hawker and renting slot machines, which he
installed in his uncle's café. After dropping out of the NDT program in
1987, he trained in Taiwan for three months. Upon returning to Sri
Lanka, he started manufacturing slot machines until the government
banned them in 1991. Following the ban, he transitioned into car
sales before opening his first casino in 1993, which is now managed
by his brothers. Perera also ran an electronics repair shop, Tito
Electronics, and later ventured into the production and sale of neon
bulbs in 1995.

Dhammika Perera released a book, breaking
down everything he wants to do in terms of
politics. His gained political power has helped
him grow his empire of companies and
understand economical stratergies better. His
thoughts were that the $ 4,000 per capita
income would be $ 20,000 by 2030, with his
business experience and policies.

Dhammika Perera who started as a Casino owner(Bally's Colombo,
Bellagio Colombo and The Ritz Club.), from the casino proceeds and with
huge political has built an empire. The two largest Finance Companies
(LB Finance and Valibell); main shareholder in key Banks (Sampath, Pan
Asia); Monopoly of the Ceramic and bath ware sector (Rocell, Lanka
Tiles). Many Hotels (Kingsbury, Fortress and Maldives) Key companies
Hayleys and affiliated Companies, Singer Company .Through Hayleys,
Perera controls Amaya Leisure, The Kingsbury and Singer (Sri Lanka)
while Royal Ceramics, LB Finance, and Lanka Tiles are controlled by
Vallibel One
