Setting: Dandy's World classroom, where the game characters Goob, Scraps, Toodles and
Tisha are seated, ready to learn about staying safe online.
Characters:
Sophia as the teacher
Goob
Scraps
Shrimpo
Toodles
Tisha
Rodger
Teagan
Introduction:
Teacher Character: Sophia greets the class, saying, "Hi everyone! Today, we're going to talk
about something very important – Have any of you experienced feeling hurt online by anyone
before?"
Storytelling Flow:
1. Cyberbullying Scenario:
- Goob looks down and admits, "I received a mean message after sharing my game score
yesterday, and it really hurt my feelings."
- Scraps responds, "Yeah, I’ve seen Shrimpo being mean online, but I wasn’t sure what to do."
- Sophia (doodle) explains, "Well what Shrimpo did was Cyberbullying. This happens when
someone uses technology to be unkind or hurtful to others. But don't worry – we’re going to
learn how to handle it together!"
2. Interactive Lesson:
- Sophia asks, "What do you think Goob should do when faced with cyberbullying?"
Allow Toodles and Tisha to chime in with suggestions:
-Toodles: "Maybe he should ignore it?"
-Tisha: "Or tell someone about it?"
- Sophia: Well both of you got some points. These are the things that you can do in facing
Cyberbullying
3. Teacher Sophia explains the three steps to handle cyberbullying:
- Step 1: Don’t Respond. Sophia explains, "Sometimes, not replying is the best option
because it doesn’t give the bully the attention they want."
- Step 2: Block or Report. Show Dandy helping Goob block the Shrimpo's profile and report
the behavior. "Most platforms have options to block and report people who are unkind," Sophia
says.
- Step 3: Talk to a Trusted Adult. Sophia emphasizes, "Always tell a trusted adult, like a
Rodger or Teagan, if you're being bullied online. You don't have to face it alone."
4. Real-Life Example:
- Let me tell you a story: "There was a time when Glisten received a mean comment, but
instead of feeling bad, he talked to Roger, who helped him block the person. And guess what?
Glisten felt much better knowing he wasn’t alone.
Call to Action:
- Have Sophia say " The main point here is: You all have the power to stop cyberbullying by
being kind and standing up for others. Will you promise to be a digital friend and help make the
online world a better place?"
- The characters, along with the audience, raise their hands and make a pledge:
"We promise to be kind, report bullying, and support each other online!"
