P042E-00: Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Stuck Open-No Sub Type Information

Overview:

Code Cause Effect on Vehicle


Fault Code: P042E-00 1. EGR Valve stuck.  PM emission level will increase.
MIL- On  Fuel economy will decrease.
CEL – Off  It will affect overall engine
Immo Lamp – NA component life.
Message on IC - NA

Checkpoints:

1. Check soot deposits on EGR valve.

Trouble Shooting Steps:

Sr. No. Steps Specifications


Step 1 Perform an actuator test and confirm whether the
EGR valve is working properly if not blow away The desired and actual EGR
dust/soot if any and recheck whether valve is valve should match
working.
Step 2 If problem persists, change the EGR valve. Clear
the error, warm up the engine and check again for
error.

P0116-00: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance-No Sub Type


Information (defect fault check for Absolute/ Dynamic plausibility test)

Checkpoints:

1) Check whether the connector is properly connected to the sensor


2) Check correct placement of coolant temperature sensor

Trouble Shooting Steps:

Step 1 Check if fuel temperature connector is connected to coolant The fuel temperature connector
sensor. Correct if wrongly connected and check for error. If no should not be connected to
error go to step 7 water coolant sensor
Step 2 Remove sensor and clean area of sensor mounting of any
debris and check again for error. If no error present, go to step 7
Step 3 Change sensor, warm the engine at fly up for 20 mins and Fly up = 3400 rpm
check for error. If no error, go to step 7
Step 4 Check thermostat for proper functioning. Replace if required
and check again for error. If no error, go to step 7
Step 5 If error persists change wiring harness and check for error. If no
error go to step 7
Step 6 If problem still persists, change ECU and check for error. Go to
step 7
Step 7 Upon completion of inspection & repair work, clear the DTC
using diagnostic tool. After this go to step 8.
Step 8 Perform "DTC Confirmation Procedure" & confirm that the
problem has been corrected

Step 3 Check the wiring harness to locate and rectify the sensor wire
short to ground.
Step 4 Check and confirm whether the sensor output voltage is within 0.1V < Volt. Range < 4.9 V
the operating range.
Step 5 Measure the nominal resistance of sensor between pin 1 & 2 2.5 kΩ ± 5% at 20deg C
Step 5 Erase the fault with the scan tool after completing above steps.
Step 6 Replace the sensor, if problem persists.

Checkpoints:

1. Check wiring harness


2. Check camshaft sensor
3. Check cam shaft.
4. Check the gap between the cam sensor tip and cam gear sensing surface.

P0A0F-00: Detection of Failed Engine Start

Overview:

Code Cause Effect on Vehicle


Fault Code: 1. Insufficient rail pressure. Vehicle will not start
P0A0F 2. Engine synchronization problem.
MIL- Off 3. Cranking rpm is less than 120 rpm.
CEL – On 4. Shut off request
Immo Lamp – NA
Message on IC –
NA

2. Check Battery Voltage


3. Check Starter motor
4. Check Rail pressure
5. Check Fuel flow
6. Check Pre-supply pump connector
7. Check wiring harness for Crank sensor
8. Check wiring harness for Cam sensor

Trouble Shooting Steps:

Step 2 Address and rectify the other DTCs first.
Step 3 Check Rail pressure
Step 4 Check fuel filters and the fuel lines.
Step 5 Check fuel flow at the fuel return line from FCU to the fuel
tank.
Step 6 Check fuel delivery at the inlet of the Injector
Step 7 Check pre-supply pump connector, refer page number 236
Step 8 Check Crank sensor, refer page number 338
Step 9 Check Cam sensor, refer page number 335
Step 10 Check Starter motor, refer page number 224
