Background Information
Interview conducted February 24, 2023, via Zoom.
The client states that she has just graduated from college, she has moved back in with her parents
which is about 3 hours away from her friends. Her fiancé just deployed and has been struggling
with loneliness and feelings of isolation. Does not think she has enough support as she use to
have.
Observations of client
The client was casually dressed and wore makeup. Her demeanor was relaxed and calm. She
could be seen having pauses before answering questions that could be attributed to being
anxious. The client spoke intelligently and did not struggle with saying anything. Her face was
the same throughout, there was little change in her expression during the meeting.
Activities/summary of the interview
The client describes her loneliness due to the fact that she is 3 hours away from her friends and
her fiancé is deployed overseas. She states that she passes the time by working around 30 hours a
week and is also a full-time student. She spends the rest of her time in her hobbies which include
crafting and reading.
Impressions
The client works hard to not think about her loneliness and fills the time that she could be
thinking about it with work, school, and her hobbies. She reports that she has been doing this in
her life for the past 4 months since she graduated college. She does love spending time with her
family, but she does state that it can’t replace her friends or her partner.
Plan/ next steps
Recommend she continue with counseling on a weekly basis to help her deal with her loneliness
and anxiety of being alone.
Recommend she consider journaling so she can write down what she is feeling and get her
emotions out of her own mind.
