Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

Subject: Mathematics
Grade Level & Section: Grade 7 Love
Teacher: Jarren Y. Herbieto
Date: September 16, 2024
Time Allotment: 45 minutes

Content Standards: The learner should have knowledge and understanding of rational
numbers
Performance Standards: By the end of the quarter, the learners will be able to describe, order
rational numbers on a number line.
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 80% of the students will be able to:
a. described given rational numbers as fractions, decimal, or percentages;
b. create rational number from the two sets of integers; and
c. appreciated the importance of rational numbers in real-life situations.

II. Subject Matter

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Introduction/Preliminary Activities

“Good morning class!” “Good morning, Sir!”

“May I request Class President to lead the prayer?” (Class President will lead the prayer)

“Before you take your seats, please pick up pieces of paper “Yes, Sir.”
or trashes. Then, please arrange your chairs properly.”

“You may now take your seats.” (Take seats)

“Class, may I know who are absent for today?” “No one, Sir.”

“Very good! So, let’s give everybody a round of (Class Applause)

applause.”
“None, Sir.”
“Class, did I give you an assignment?”
“Very well, then.”

“Classroom Rules:
In this classroom you are expected to learn MATH
1. Make it to class on time and prepared to do work.
2. Ask for permission to speak by first raising your hand.
3. Talk respectfully to your teacher and your peers.
4. Hand in your best work by checking it twice for
mistakes.

B. Review
Carino: “Our topic yesterday sir is about
“Who can recall our topic yesterday? Yes, Carino.” on rate.”

“Yes, very good Carino.”

Alyssa: “Sir, rate is a ratio comparing two
“Now, anyone can explain further about the rate.” Yes, quantities of different kinds of unit.”
Alyssa.”

“Yes, excellent Alyssa.”

(Raise hands)
“Now, we will have another interesting topic for today that
connected to our discussion yesterday. But, before that,
let’s play a game. Raise it if you want games.”

C. Motivation
“Yes, Sir.”
“Are you familiar with the game Guess the Word class?”

“You’ll have 15 seconds to guess the word based on the

pictures or clues presented.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Are you now ready for class?
Students: “Whole Number”
1.
Students: “Percentage”
2.

3.
Students: “Mixed Fraction”

4. Students: “Fraction”

5.
Students: “Decimal”
“How did you find the activity?”
Students: “Enjoying Sir.”
“Okay, very well!”

“Today we will discuss the rational numbers. Please listen

carefully because at the end of our discussion, you are
expected to describe given rational numbers as fractions,
decimal, or percentages, identify the given rational
numbers as fractions, decimal, or percentages, and
appreciate the importance of rational numbers in real-life
situations.

D. Activity

“Based on our activity, those terms is related in rational

numbers."

Shayne: “A rational number is a number

“Class, what comes in your mind if you heard the word
that can be written as a ratio of two
rational numbers? Yes, Shayne.”
integers, where the denominator is not
zero., Sir.”

“Very good, Shayne.”

“A rational number is a number that can be written as a

ratio of two integers, where the denominator is not zero.
Integers, fractions, and mixed numbers, and percentages
are examples of rational numbers. A rational number is
p
defined as a number that can be written in the form ,
q
where p and q are integers and p # 0. Even an integer that
is not expressed as a ratio (meaning without a
denominator) is also considered a rational number. (e.g. 3
3
can be expressed as , the ratio of 3 and 1)”
1 Students: “No, Sir.”
“Class, do you have a clarification?”

E. Analysis

“Now let’s apply your understanding about rational

numbers based on the definition.”

“Taking the definition of a rational number, come up with

2 whole numbers, then form the ratio of these 2 integers.”

Example:
Set 1 of integers: 2, 4, 5, 10, 13
Set 2 of integers: 3, 15, 8, 1, 27

Ratio (formed from the 2 sets of numbers provided)

2 4 10 5
, , ,
27 8 1 4

Group Activity.
Direction: Create another ratio formed from the 2 sets of
integers numbers.
Students: “No, Sir.”

“Class, do you have a clarification?”

“Remember class, we must also provide the simplest form

of the ratio provided, if necessary as well as the final sign
of the rational number.’’

Example 1.

4 4 4 1
= ÷ = ∨0.5
8 8 4 2

Example 2.

10
=10
1

F. Abstraction

“A while ago we discussed the definition of rational

numbers.”
Roxan: “A rational number is a number
“Anyone can share in the class what you learned from that can be written as a ratio of two
our discussion today. Yes, Roxan?” integers, where the denominator is not
zero. Integers, fractions, and mixed
numbers, and percentages are examples of
rational numbers. A rational number is
defined as a number that can be written in
p
the form , where p and q are integers
q
and p # 0.”

“Great Roxan. You listen well and understand our

discussion today.”
“Even an integer that is not expressed as a
“Additionally, what are the six trigonometric ratios? Yes, ratio (meaning without a denominator) is
Justine.” also considered a rational number. (e.g. 3
can be expressed as 3/1, the ratio of 3 and
1).’’

“Yes, you’re correct Justine.”

G. Application

Direction: In a one-half sheet of paper, list the ratio

formed from the 2 sets of numbers of given below. Then,
provide the simplest form of the ratio. (30 points)

1. Set 1 of integers: 3, 7, 6, 8
Set 2 of integers: 2, 1, 4, 21

H. Assignment

Direction: Write your answer in your notebook of this

following question. I will check your work. This
assignment is worth 20 points.
1. Cite a real-situation in your life can you apply the
rational numbers.
Student: (Goodbye Sir!)
“Goodbye class.”
