2024 World Esports Standardization Development RFP

Research 1 : Standardization Strategy on World Esports Report

Research Subject
World Esports Report(WER) which has been conducted by IESF since 2021. The WER is the
visualization data based on the result of a survey on the current status of Esports conducted in
approx. 140 nations of IESF. It is one of main contents of IESF World Esports Archive which has
been sponsored by the Busan Metropolitan City. (example link)

Research Objectives
The research investigates the current status of World Esports Report (WER) and suggests the
standardization strategy on WER. The Final Report will be posted in the IESF World Esports
Archive.

Research Key Requirements


● Analysis on the WER Questionnaire
● Analysis on the WER Survey Responses and Respondents
● Analysis on how WER can contribute to Esports Standardization
● Suggestion on future strategy of WER to be Esports Standardization Data
● Suggestion on future strategy of WER as of a promotion tool of Busan Metropolitan City

Budget
Applicants may request up to 10,000,000 KRW funds for this project. The fund can be paid to only
non-profit organizations.

Research Sponsor
This research fund is sponsored by Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea.

Expected Deliverables
Research Report in English (.pdf). The report shall be more than 25 pages excluding the appendices
and attachments, double spaced on A4 Paper. The research work should not have been published
previously.

Research Duration
The final outcomes should be sent to IESF by Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 and be approved by
IESF by Tuesday, December 17th, 2024.
Proposal Requirements
1. Background and Statement of Need : Provide a brief summary of the current state of
knowledge of the issue that the proposed research will help address, and the drivers for the
proposed research.
2. Objectives : The proposed research objectives should be clearly identified in one or two
sentences.
3. Research Method : Describe how the proposed research will be conducted and the tasks
necessary to accomplish the objectives.
4. Research Team and Other Participants : Identify the key members of the research team
and provide brief statements of their qualifications to conduct the proposed research.
5. Budget : The proposal should identify the amount of the Research Fund requested.
6. Schedule
7. References (optional) : Detailed citations are not required in the proposal, but may be
provided at the discretion of the researcher.
8. The proposal shall not exceed 5 pages without the References.

Application Procedure and Deadline


Proposals are accepted exclusively in PDF format, and they must be fully submitted by Friday,

Research 2 : Fundamental Study on World Esports Standardardization

Research Subject
World Esports Standardardization which implements and develops World Esports Standards based
on the consensus of different parties for maximizing compatibility, interoperability, reusability,
commonality and safety

Research Objectives
The research investigates and defines the basic concept, definition, framework, model,
categorization, etc. concerning the World Esports Standardardization. The research provides the
suggestions and guidance to further research on World Esports Standardization. Final Report will
be posted in the IESF World Esports Archive(archive.iesf.org).

Research Key Requirements


● Analysis and Investigation on the World Esports Standardization
● Categorization of World Esports Standardization
● Action Plan to develop and promote World Esports Standardization for IESF and Busan
Metropolitan City
● Suggestion and guidance on future research direction of World Esports Standardization
