INSTRUCTION

This project is quite complicated, requiring good crocheting skills.

The doll is crocheted in continuous rounds.
A wire frame is used for the doll.
If you use materials mentioned above, you will get result in a doll 21,5 cm (8,5 in) high.

Level:
Advanced

Abbreviations:
sts – stitches
ch – chain stitch
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet for US (double crochet stitch for UK)
inc – increase: 2 sc in 1 stitch
inc3 – 3 sc in 1 st
dec – decrease

NOTE: How to make sc decrease: insert the hook into the next stitch and thread over. Pull a
loop through so that there are now 2 loops on the hook. Insert the hook into the next stitch
and thread over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 3 loops on the hook. Thread over
again and pull the loop of thread through all 3 loops on the hook.

DOLL BODY

Beige yarn

ARMS (make 2):

Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring (6 sts)

R2: (inc, 2sc) X 2 (8 sts)
R3: 3sc, inc, 4sc (9 sts)
R4-5 (2 rounds): sc around (9 sts)
R6: dec, 3sc, dec, 2sc (7 sts)
R7: sc around (7 sts)
R8: inc, 3sc, inc, 2sc (9 sts)
R9-23 (15 rounds): sc around (9 sts)

Make sl st more and cut the yarn.

LEGS (make 2):

Make chain of 8, then start in 2nd ch from the hook:

Round 1: 6 sc , inc3, 5sc, inc (16 sts)
R2: inc, 5sc, 3inc, 5sc, 2inc (22 sts)

Cut an insole out of an old bank card.

R3-4 (2 rounds): sc around (22 sts)

Tip: pass the starting yarn tail between R2 and R3, it will be a counter for counting the rounds.

4
R5: 6sc, 5dec, 6sc (17 sts)
R6: 5sc, 4dec, 4sc (13 sts)
Check the insole and trim off any excess. If the insole is optimal, make a second one.

R7: 5sc, 2dec, 4sc (11 sts)

Insert the insole. Then take a piece of wire 30cm long and bend one end with a loop. Wrap
the end tightly with elastic duct tape and bend at a right angle. Check the loop by inserting it
into the foot and make a second loop.

5
R8: sc around (11 sts)
R9: inc, 10sc (12 sts)
Boo cambio pelle
R10: sc around (12 sts)
R11: sc, inc, 10sc (13 sts)
Flo cambio blu
Insert the wire into the foot and gently stuff it.

R12-31: (20 rounds): sc around (13 sts)

After the 18th round add stuffing to the leg.

R32: for left leg – 2sc, 2sl st (4 sts), cut the yarn.
for right leg – 8sc, sl st (9 sts), and make chain of 3.

Please note! - the round 32 is needed to join the legs

correctly - so that the feet are parallel to each other.
You may need a different number of stitches in round 32.
To determine the number of stitches you need
take the doll's legs in your hand so that the toes of the feet
are parallel, then flatten them. Mark with pins the inside corners
of the flattened ovals. These are the points where the legs are
connected by a chain (blue and red arrows on the photo).
You will need as many stitches as you need to reach these
points, and for the left leg (red arrow) add one extra stitch (sl st).
Stuff the leg evenly almost all the way through.
6
BODY:
Mark the penultimate stitch of the left leg with a piece of contrasting yarn. This will be the
mark of the beginning of the 33rd round.
Now join the right leg to the left leg by making sc in this stitch. Then work in a round and
make 3 sc in the chain on one side, and 3 sc - on the other side. Be careful, it's very easy to
miss a stitch in this round! You should get 32 sts.
R33: 13sc + 3sc + 13sc + 3sc (32 sts)

After R34, stand the legs on a table, align them and connect the leg wires with duct tape - not
definitively yet, but to make it comfortable to work.

7
R34-52 (19 rounds): sc around (32 sts) 40 cambia colore F
Now definitively wrap the leg wires with duct tape, first making sure that the legs are the
same length. Thoroughly stuff the bases of the legs and torso to the middle.

Make 9 sc more to get to the point of joining the arms. But you may need more or less sc
depending on your yarn. The next page shows how to determine the amount of sc you need.

For the arms, take two pieces of 20 cm long wire, bend in loops and wrap tightly with elastic
duct tape. Place a small piece of stuffing in the hand first, and then insert the loop. Stuff the
hand just a little bit, otherwise it will be too massive.

8
Attaching the arm:
Flatten the body, and mark the corners with pins (blue arrows in the picture). Add the desired
amount of sc to reach the point marked by the red arrow.
Place the arm to the torso and crochet them together with 3 sc, so that the last stitch of the
arm is in the middle of those 3 sc. Work 13 sc and attach 2nd arm with 3 sc, then another 13 sc.
Counting 53 rounds begins with the attaching of 1st arm.

R53: [6sc (arm) + 13sc (body)] X 2 (38 sts)

Now very carefully connect and wrap duct tape around
the wires of the body and arms, so that the arms are
the same length. The top end of the wire bundle should also
be wrapped with duct tape to prevent the yarn from clinging.
Next simply work the arms and body in a round.
Be careful not to miss a stitch!
R54: sc around (38 sts)

Shoulders:
R55: (3dec, 13sc) X 2 (32 sts)
R56: 2dec, 12sc, 2dec, 10sc, dec (27 sts)
R57: 2dec, 8sc, 3dec, 8sc (21 sts)
R58: 2dec, 7sc, 2dec, 5sc, dec (17 sts)
R59: 2dec, 3sc, 3dec, 4sc (12 sts)
Stuff the shoulders slightly.

Neck:
R60-62 (3 rounds): sc around (12 sts)
9
HEAD:

R63: (inc) X 12 (24 sts)

R64: 4sc, (inc, 2sc) X 4, 2sc, inc, 4sc, inc (30 sts)
R65: 5sc, (inc, 3sc) X 4, 2sc, inc, 5sc, inc (36 sts)
R66: 3sc, (inc, 4sc) X 4, 2sc, inc, 6sc, inc, 3sc (42 sts)
R67-77 (11 rounds): sc around (42 sts)

Bend a loop of the remaining protruding end

of the wire.
Stuff the neck tightly.

R78: (5sc, dec) X 6 (36 sts)

R79: (4sc, dec) X 6 (30 sts)
R80: (3sc, dec) X 6 (24 sts)
R81: (2sc, dec) X 6 (18 sts)

Now stuff the head tightly.

R82: (1sc, dec) X 6 (12 sts)

R83: (dec) X 6 (6 sts)

Leave a tail.

10
In the remaining 6 sc consecutively sew 6 stitches from the inside to outside, tighten the
yarn, fasten and hide it.

The doll is ready!
