1. The current Tororo District was occupied by the Iteso community (Ateker). The area was
sparsely populated on fertile soils, suitable climate. This encouraged the Jopadhola who
were faced by a number of challenges in Pubungu to start migrating into Tororo. Today, the
Jopadhola are among the highest inhabitants of Tororo and this has caused tribal
competition for most resources available in Tororo.

2. East Africa is endo wed with different cultural and historical sites. These have been wide
spread in different countries of East Africa. Different Governments have put much effort in
Rehabilitating and construction of these sites as well as offering protection to these sites
due to the benefits attached to them.
Mr. Malan a hi story researcher from the University of Michigan has been sent for research
on historical and cultural sites in east Africa and you as a senior one student has been
selected to be his tour guide.
