Assessments
Task 1:
3 Individual Assignments (18% each)

Students will be expected to complete 3 individual assignments (each worth 18% of the final mark for this
course). Throughout the semester, students will be asked to solve problems by applying the concepts
learned in class. The problem sets will be made available in the form of assignments before a weekend
(Thursdays at 9am 9pm) via Canvas and WebLearn. Students will have to work on these individually and
have time until the following Monday morning to complete them and submit their solutions.
As WebLearn-based questions will often only ask for end results of mathematical problems, students will
be asked to also submit their full calculations in a separate document to be submitted to Canvas. Students
will only get a mark for their assignment if all required documentation has been submitted. (I.e., students
will have to show HOW they calculated their answer and will not receive points for just putting the right
mathematical answer into a WebLearn-based question.)
The use of generative AI is discouraged, but not prohibited. Any use of AI tools in the development of
solutions to the assignments has to be declared in the assignment and screenshots of the AI output have
to be included in the assignment submission. The assignments are designed to help students develop
their ability to meet the course learning outcomes mentioned above.
Each assignment (WL1-WL3) is worth 18% of your final mark for this course.

The assignment
Individual dates are as follows:Release date
Assignment Due date

WL1 Thursday, 16/03/2023 @ 9pm Monday, 20/03/2023 @ 10am

WL2 Thursday, 20/04/2023 @ 9pm Monday, 24/04/2023 @ 10am
WL3 Thursday, 11/05/2023 @ 9pm Monday, 15/05/2023 @ 10am

Assessments
Task 2:

Semester Group Project (46%)

This is a semester group project for teams of 2 to 3 students with individual assessment components.
The project consists of two parts that will have to be submitted at different times in the semester.

The first part will support your learning in coordinating teams and pre-planning for a project of your
choice. The second part aims to further your understanding and ability to apply the concept of
systematic project planning and scheduling to an event/project through the use of MS Project as a
scheduling tool.

You will be assessed on how skilful you are at correctly applying various project management
techniques and on how effective you are at using MS Project to perform the planning, scheduling, and
tracking/execution task of a project. The use of generative AI is discouraged, but not prohibited. Any
use of AI tools in the development of solutions to the assignments has to be declared in the
assignment and screenshots of the AI output have to be included in the assignment submission.

Further assessment details will be made available on the course's Canvas page.

Part 1 is worth 8% of your final mark and is due on Monday, 27th of March 2023 at 11:59pm.

Part 2 is worth 38% of your final mark and is due on Friday, 26th of May 2023 at 11:59pm.
