IQAC
ROLE OF IQAC:
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) plays a crucial role in ensuring and enhancing the
quality of higher education institutions. IQAC is primarily responsible for developing and
maintaining quality benchmarks in various academic and administrative activities of the
institution. It assists in the preparation of the Self-Study Report (SSR) for accreditation purposes.
IQAC ensures that the institution meets the criteria set by accreditation bodies and facilitates the
accreditation process. It promotes a culture of continuous improvement by regularly assessing
the functioning of the institution and suggesting measures for enhancement. IQAC acts as a
catalyst for the overall development and improvement of higher education institutions, aiming to
provide quality education and foster excellence in all its endeavors.
OBJECTIVE OF IQAC:
The objective of the cell is to develop a system of conscious and consistent improvement in
the overall performance of the Institution at all the levels, with the involvement of all
stakeholders towards quality enhancement, through internalization of quality culture and
institutionalization of best practices.
FUNCTIONS OF IQAC
– Continuous evaluation of academic performance.
– Ensure industry interaction through MoUs.
– Periodical Internal Quality Audits.
– Conducting Technical events through Professional Committees.
– Ensuring the usage of ICT in Teaching & Learning process.
– Initiating Outcome- Based Education.
– Conduction of Value added, Certificate course, Career guidance etc..
STRUCTURE AND COMPOSITION OF IQAC:
According to the UGC Guidelines, the IQAC shall be constituted under the chairmanship of the
head of the HEI. He/She may be assisted by a Coordinator who shall be a senior faculty member.
The IQAC shall have the following composition:
Head of the HEI – Chairperson;
Five senior teachers
One senior administrative official – Members;
Two external experts on Quality Management/Industry/Local Community – Members/li>
Director/Coordinator of IQAC – Member Secretary.
The senior teachers and administrative official shall be nominated by the Head of the HEI in
consultation with the academic body of the HEI Academic Committee of a College. The
membership of such nominated members shall be for a period of two years. The IQAC should
meet at least once in a quarter. The quorum for the meeting shall be two-third of the total number
of members. The agenda, minutes and Action Taken Reports are to be documented with official
signatures and maintained electronically in a retrievable format.
