FITTING INSTRUCTIONS .

MITSUBISHI ASX 8/2017 on BIG TUBE™ FOG LIGHT BAR

VEHICLE FRONTAL PROTECTION SYSTEM (VFPS)
FOR AIR BAG & ADR COMPLIANT VEHICLES

Check installation hardware before commencing.

1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the hand brake. Lift bonnet.

2. Remove six push pull clips from the radiator cover. Gently lift cover and pull rearward to remove.
See figure 1.

3. From inside of headlight in the grill area, remove two 10mm head bolts securing the bumper to radiator support
and one 10mm head bolt securing the latch mechanism. See figure 2.

4. Remove one 10mm head bolt from the inside of front wheel arch flares, gently pull the wheel arch flares away
from the vehicle. See figure 3.

5. From behind the front of the flares, remove one 8mm head screw from the guard join and two push pull clips.

6. Remove twenty-two push pull clips from the underbody guards and remove the guards. See figures 4 & 5.

7. Disconnect the wiring harness to the right-hand side of the bonnet lock mechanism.

8. Remove one 10mm head bolt from the outside of the lower grill, remove the grill. See figure 6.

9. Remove one 10mm head bolt from in front of bonnet lock.

10. Carefully pull out and unclip the sides of the bumper them move forward to unclip from the headlights, remove
bumper completely.

11. Remove push pull plugs from inner guard to allow access to three 12mm head bolts securing water bottle.

12. From the top of the water bottle remove the push pull clip and remove the filler lid, disconnect the wiring and
drain the tank. See figures 7 & 8. Unscrew three 12mm head bolts, lift slightly and remove.

13. Remove wiring from the bumper support, two 12mm head bolts from intercooler, one 12mm head bolt from horn
and allow to hang. Remove three 10mm head bolts from bumper support to locking panel. Remove eight 12mm
bolts from the bumper support to the chassis rail. See figure 9. Remove bumper support.

14. Install front mounting brackets (supplied) to rear of bumper support and fit back to vehicle using eight M8 x 30
bolts (supplied) (this may take two people). Align mounts and bumper support, finger tighten bolts only at this
time. See figure 10. Re-fit the intercooler mount brackets to the bumper support.

15. Remove the bolt from the intercooler hose on the passenger side as well as the 10mm bolt retaining the earth
wire.

16. Remove the passenger side headlight by disconnecting the wire connections located under the headlight, two
10mm head bolts from the top and one from the outer guard, remove a push pull clip from the top of the guard
and light, gently remove the light.

17. Align the side support mounting brackets (supplied) with the slots on the main mount, clamp into position and
drill three 10mm holes in each side into top and bottom flanges of the chassis rail. Blow filings clear and treat
all exposed metal with a rust inhibitor. See figure 11.

18. Install side support mounting brackets to chassis rail using three M10 x 40 bolts (supplied)(per side). Between
side chassis mounts and chassis rail, place slotted spacer washer (supplied) in top on drivers side.

19. Fit M8 x 45 bolt, flat washers and spring washer (supplied) to secure the cooler hose on passenger side. Fasten
the earth strap to the original position.

20. Align Steel front mounting brackets inside measurement to 810mm. Ensure a gap each side of the radiator and
tighten all fasteners. See figure 12.

21. Replace the water bottle using original equipment fasteners.

22. On bottom of left hand headlight, remove the 8-pin plug from the light socket which is cable tied to the back of
the headlight. Remove a small section to avoid the headlight touching the chassis mount. See figure 13. Re-fit
the headlight using original fasteners.

23. Splice ECB wiring harness into wiring harness behind headlight using cable locks (supplied). Ensure harness is
clear of sharp edges and moving parts.

24. Connect ECB Quick Click fog light wiring harness (supplied) into original wiring harness.

25. Remove lower grille from bumper bar.

26. Re-fit the bumper bar using the original fasteners, clips and covers. Do not fit underbelly guards at this stage.

27. Fit ECB LED indicator / park lights into protection bar as per instructions supplied with the LED indicator kit.
NOTE: Ensure correct direction up. See figure 14.

28. Attach ECB fog lights to protection bar. Place M6 x 20 bolts, spring washers (supplied) through light mount
from inside and attach nut to top. Slide assembly into light mount in Protection bar and centralize light to hole.
TIGHTEN FIRM ONLY. See figure 15.

29. Attach 6mm clip lock trim (supplied) to top and cut outs in skirt of ECB protection bar. NOTE: Trim off lower
edge on an angle so trim will sit flush with end of protection bar and skirt opening. See figures 16, 17 and 18.

30. Install ECB protection Bar to steel mounting brackets using four M12 x 40 bolts, flat washers, spring washers
and nuts. Align Protection bar and tighten all bolts. See figures 19 and 20.

31. Fit underbelly guards using original bolts and clips.

32. Connect and test all lights for correct operation.

ENSURE NUMBER PLATE IS CLEARLY VISABLE

Note: When fitting/refitting the licence plate to the vehicle, ensure there is no obstruction to licence plate vision in
accordance with local authorities. If required relocate licence plate to an alternate location.

Further VFPS Notes:

a) Do not attach VFPS to the vehicle using anchorages not intended for this purpose (e.g. engine mounting bolts).
b) Do not use this product for any vehicle make or model, other than those specified by the VFPS manufacturer.
c) Do not remove the plaque or label from the VFPS.
d) Do not modify the structure of the VFPS in any way.
e) No accessory or fitment should project forward of the VFPS forward profile.
f) ENSURE THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE LEFT WITH VEHICLE OWNER AND/OR OPERATOR.

Periodically check bolts and nuts for correct tightness, especially if travelling on rough roads
