RHINOCEROS
Allan Schreiber (Director) is no stranger either to Ann Arbor audiences or to Ann Arbor
Civic Theater itself, having acted and directed in countless productions for a variety
of local theater groups. Last year he directed "Devil's Disciple" for AACT as well
as playing the lead role in "Enter Laughing". In 1964 he won Civic Theater's Best
Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Ali Hakim in "Oklahoma". For three years he
served as Director for the U-M Gilbert and Sullivan Society and for one season directed the
Ypsilanti Players. Last fall Mr. Schreiber directed "Viet Rock" for the Dramatic Arts
Center as well as serving currently on the DAC Board of Directors. Married and the father
of four children, Mr. Schreiber is an instructor of Speech and Drama at Eastern Michigan
University.

Dale Bellaire (Berenger) makes his debut with AACT in "Rhinoceros" but has previously
appeared in ten productions at Eastern Michigan University as well as playing in the
University of Michigan's "Would-Be Gentleman". He earned his B.A. at EMU and his
M.A. from the University of Michigan, and is presently serving as an instructor of oral
interpretation in the Speech and Dramatic Arts Department at EMU.

Norman Wilkinson (Jean) not only directed AACT's production of "A Man For All
Seasons" last fall but will also serve the same function for "The Mousetrap" this coming
May in A ACT's final play of the season. Presently a teacher at the University of Michigan
in the Engineering English and Speech Departments, Norm has been seen by Ann Arbor
audiences in five APA plays and in the University Players' "Servant of Two Masters",
"Galileo", and "Henry Vl", as well as directing several U-M student laboratory productions.
He has also written and directed chancel dramas performed in local churches. Norm comes
from Liverpool, England.

Mari Anne Annis (Daisy) came to AACT with extensive experience in Cincinnati's
Edgecliff Theater and Xavier University, appearing in a variety of plays ranging from
"Cherry Orchard" to "Measure For Measure". In Ann Arbor since Fall 1967, Mari Anne
has worked with the University of Michigan's TV "Canterbury Tales" and with AACT in
the Workshop's premi~h productions, Eugene lonesco's "Jack" and "Future Is In Eggs",
in the Art Fair hit, ".::u;row White", and in "Devil's Disciple". She also found time in her
busy life as mother of a little girl to work on costumes for "Raisin in the Sun."

Charles Stallman (Dudard), who has worked with AACT in a numb_er of Workshop
productions and in "Kiss Me, Kate", served a dual function at the Amencan Sha_kespeare
Festival in Stratford, Connecticut: he acted in "Julius Caesar", "Merchant of_Ven1ce", and
"MacBeth" and was personal dresser to Cyril Richard and John Colicos. Charlie performed
the same service for Bert Lahr in the 1966 season of the Ypsilanti Greek Theater and has
appeared in the Ypsilanti Players' productions of "Who Was That Ladyl" and "King of
Hearts".

Fred Reilly (Papillon) has acted in five of the last eight AACT productions. He portrayed
Sir Thomas More in AACT's first production this season. Now a medical administrator,
Fred once served as head of the Radio Division of the American Theatre Wing Professional
Training Program, New York City.

Warren C. Eveland (Old Gentleman) may be a professor in U-M's School of Public


Health, but he has also been a lawyer and a postman--in AACT's "Enter Laughing" and
"Come Back, Little Sheba", respectively. Warren has also worked with the Civic
Theater and Radio Theater in Juneau, Alaska.

James W. Kane (Grocer) has much theatrical experience from his years in Ohio and in the
Army, but this is first appearance with AACT. Jim works as County-Farm Editor for the
Ann Arbor News and is one of Civic Theater's prize bachelors.

Marianne Nelson (Madame Bouef), administrative assistant for the Presidents Club at
U-M, performed in the AACT Workshop's "Jack" and "The Future Is In Eggs". She
has had extensive experience in Portland, Oregon and in Honolulu, Hawaii theater groups.

John D. Stevens (Botard) is an Assistant Professor of Journalism at the University of


Michigan and is making his AACT debut with "Rhinoceros". Previously John worked with
theatrical productions in Pullman, Washington and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Sharon Yoder (Grocer's Wife) also makes her AACT debut in this production. Her prior
experience was with the Northwestern Michigan College Players. She is an editor with the
U-M Development Council.

Dariel Ligget (Waitress) appeared as Lady Margaret in AACT's "A Man For All Seasons"
and as a chorus girl in "Gypsy" . She is a secretary at the U-M Medical Center Personnel
Office.

Carol Duffy (Proprietress), writer and director of AACT Art Fair melodramas, has acted
in several AACT productions as well. She describes herself as a "mother (who) dabbles
in several creative art forms".

Laurel Lee Johnso n (Logician) teaches an AACT Workshop group and acted in the two
lonesco plays. Now a part-time lecturer at U-M, she has acted and directed in numerous
plays presented in Kansas, South Australia, and England. Laurel Lee holds an M.A. in
Drama from Kansas State University.

Michele Masters (Housewife and Assistant to the Director) has been in the entertainment
world since she was five years old in one capacity or another, ranging from tap dancer to
AACT actress and makeup artist. She works in the Department of Radiology at University
Hospital.
