How Do I

Change the Mat Size in Design

Space?
Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines can use 12” x 12” (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) and
12” x 24” (30.5 cm x 61 cm) machine mats of various grips.

Guide
There are two ways to change the mat size in Design Space:

1. Changing the image size

2. Changing the material size

Let’s Start

C h a n gi n g t h e i m a g e s i ze:

The maximum cutting area on a 12” x 12” (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) mat is 11.5” x 11.5” (29
cm x 29 cm). If either the height or width of an image is greater than 11.5” (29 cm)
when you select “Make It,” you will receive an alert that one of your images is too
large for a 12” x 12” (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) mat. You will be given the option to continue

with a larger mat or return to the Canvas to resize your image.

Note: In Cricut Basics iOS App, the mat size will automatically change to 12" x
24" (30.5 cm x 61 cm) without an alert if the image is too large for a 12" x 12"
(30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) mat.

Windows/Mac
C h a n gi n g t h e m a t e r i a l s ize:
You can change the material size in the Project Preview Screen. If you select a
material larger than 12” x 12” (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm), Design Space will automatically
change your mat size to 12” x 24” (30.5 cm x 61 cm). The images will automatically
flow to new mats as necessary based on the material size you have selected.
