LADYKYLE: Grabbed, exposed to the camera, and forced to smile. That's what
the vlogger did to two tarsiers that are endangered species in South Cotabato.
For more detailed information, we have Audrey Cagungun, Filipinews.
AUDREY: The DENR in Soccsksargen is investigating a vlogger who handled
tarsiers on a video that went viral. In the video, Ryan Parreno, a South
Cotabato native with the handle farm boy, is seen picking up a tarsier and
Laughing while asking the animal to smile for the camera.
Environmental lawyer, Esther Biliran says Parreno actions count as
maltreatment. Parreno explains in another post they were transferring the
tarsier to a wildlife area since the animals were in a community zone. But
Filipinos online are engaged at how the vlogger used the tarsier for 'content'.
The DENR confirms Wednesday, April 10 the 2 tarsiers were released to the
wild.
DENR Soccsksargen filed on April 11 cases against the two vloggers for
violations of Republic Act (RA) 9147, or the Wildlife Act of 2001, and RA 11038,
or the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018.
REYNALDO: "Our evaluation disclosed that a crime has been committed," "The
filing of the case is an action taken so that the citizens would not imitate the
disturbing same acts,"
AUDREY: The endangered species INTRL incorporated says wild tarsier caught
and kept in captivity only have 50% of survival due to stress. Alicer urged the
public to assist the DENR in protecting wildlife and the environment.

However, in Aurora, Pangasinan, many papayas withered because of the severe
heat and some of the fruits from the papaya trees became rotten and cannot be
consumed anymore due to the heat. Even the ampalaya and eggplants are not
consumable anymore due to its state.

In Calasiao, many puto vendors are worried because of the extreme heat which
causes the puto to become moist and not consumable anymore. Vendors are
using banana leaves to prevent the goods from getting wet rather than using
plastic as a cover.
We are experiencing the danger category of heat index nowadays and experts
say that people should stay hydrated all the time, should be in cooler places,
and wear light clothes to prevent the body from feeling the heat.

According to the report, the Philippine vessels were on their way to the Bajo de

survey in the area.
Hydrographic surveys map the physical features of an underwater area.
However, the CCG vessel blocked the Philippine vessels 35 nautical miles from
Luzon's coast - the limit of China's nine-dash line, but at a location within the
Philippine exclusive economic zone.
The vessels were halted for about eight hours, but the Philippine vessels

CARLITO: It's been a miserable week since the sun heat radiates. People are
currently experiencing extreme heat and the creativity of Filipinos to beat the
heat is shown in every house in Dagupan City! to give face to the news Amanda
Suarez, Filipinews, reporting!
AMANDA: If there's a heat, the people will beat. That's the quote for every
Filipino during El Niño season. In Dagupan City, there's a house that builds a
water system above their roof which becomes viral over the internet.
JAMILAH: “ Sa tindi ng init ng panahon, nagsuggest ako sa asawa ko na what
if we will build a water system sa bubong kasi ang init “
AMANDA: Because of this, it maintains the coolness of the house. In other
houses, they also use water to throw around the house to make the heat
evaporate but most of the time people in Dagupan use aircons to beat the heat.
JAMILAH: “ Ang init, walang magawa kaya yun, titiisin nalang babayaran sa
kuryente maibsan lang ang init “
AMANDA: A high volume of usage of the electricity is expected during this time
of el niño. This can cause a shortage of the main source of electricity and
expect that the price per kilowatt hours will be increased for a specific amount.

LADYKYLE: For the international news, here's our field correspondent, Carlito
Aquino.
CARLITO: Thank you, Lady.
CARLITO: The worst flooding in almost a 100 years has hit Russia and
Kazakhstan. Forcing the evacuation of more than 100,000 of people.
The flooding in the urals and western Siberia has been caused by
unseasonably warm temperatures, which is melted snow. and the Russian city
of orenberg home to half a million people. The water has risen to dangerous
levels. Thousands of people have left the city.
This might be the biggest disaster in terms of its scale and impact in more than
80 years in Kazakhstan. Nearly 13,000 residential buildings were flooded,
forcing more than 7,700 people to be evacuated. Water levels in Orenburg city
reached 996 centimeters(around 33 feet). The forecast is unfavorable. The
water level continues to rise in flood-affected areas. Well, Alyssa Andaya is a
journalist for the Kazak news agency retel. She gave me an update on the latest
in Kazakhstan.
ALYSSA: We are actually expecting right now the second wave of the flooding
on the north and on the west and east next to the Russia border. Right now, as
far as I know, about 86,000 people were evacuated and 9,000 are still on their
shelters they will probably need a temporary housing because their homes
were destroyed completely and the government are promising them help but we
don't know how
This goes after all of this.
CARLITO: How prepared were the government and indeed the locals for the
flooding?
ALYSSA: Well it's a huge shock basically for the people. Because people were
completely unprepared and the government told us everything goes according
to plan. but until it wasn't just you know, the situation changed very quickly so
people had no chance to do something. For example, to save their lives or their
properties to prepare some sandbags or anything. so it's just emergency mode.
and Some people had loans, for example, from a bank just to build their
houses but now they lost everything.
CARLITO: And that is Alyssa in Kazakhstan.

CARLITO: Good vibes! a three month old baby becomes viral on social media
after that baby's parents accidentally capture what the baby says. To give life
to the information, We have Juliana Urbando, reporting, Filipinews.
JULIANA: A 5 month old baby becomes viral after saying “ ang init” which is
captured on camera. Upon an interview with the parents of the baby, they say
it is the first word the baby uttered. They also said that the baby is playing
with his tongue and suddenly the baby uttered “ang init” and because of this,
many netizens love the video that is viral on the internet because of its
cuteness and also the ang init relatability. Maybe the baby is uncomfortable
that day and feels the heat of the climate.
However, experts say that a baby can say its first word clearly between the
duration of 12 months -18 months of existence. Other instances, 4-6 months
old babies can only laugh, giggle and make playful sounds and maybe the baby
in the virap video is just making playful sounds and it forms and sounds like
words or sentences which are captured at the moment of video. In addition,
experts say that some babies are fast growing naturally which they develop in
their early stages during infants. Meanwhile, the parents of the baby still
believe that their child just says his first word and consider it as a good
memory of theirs.
