1. (a) Literary forms used in the writing of the Bible. (7 mks)

(b) Differences between the two accounts of creation. (6 mks)


(i) The creation order of everything is mentioned in story one but no order is given in story two.
(ii) Male and female are created at the same time, while in story two, man is created first and
then woman out of the man’s rib.
(iii) In story one, human beings were created last while in the second, ‘man is created first.
(iv) In story one, creation is by word of mouth, while in story two God used soul or substance.
(v) In the first story, God gave names to what he had created in the second man is made to give
names to all that God created.
(vi) The planting of the garden and making of the rivers is mentioned in second story but is
omitted in story one.
(vii) In story one, human beings are created to procreate while in the second story for
companionship.

(viii) In story one, human beings can eat all yielding seeds and none is forbidden, while in story
two, they are forbidden to eat fruits of the tree in the middle.
(ix) The creation of the firmament, light, sun, moon, stars, fishes and creeping things are
included in the first account but omitted in second account.
(x) In story one creation was completed on the sixth day and God rested on the seventh day,
there are no days mentioned in story two.

(c) Ways in which human beings have interfered with God’s creation work. (7 mks)
(i) Cutting down trees carelessly without replacing them.
(ii) Over cultivating / overgrazing leading to desertification.
(iii) Polluting land, water, air.
(iv) Use of contraceptives in family planning. God command was to multiply.
(v) Practice of euthanasia, interferes with life which is sacred.
(vi) Drug and substance abuse destroys human life which is sacred.
(vii) Use of artificial insemination interferes with Gods work of procreation.
(viii) Pervasive sexual behavior undermines God’s purpose of sex.
(ix) Use of weapons of mass destruction which destroys life.

3. (a) Describe the call of Abraham (Genesis 12:1-9) (8mks)
i. God told Abraham to leave his country Haran to the land that God would showhim.
ii. God promised Abraham that He would make him a great nation/ bless him/ make his
name great/ source of blessing.
iii. Abraham left the land of Haran as he had been instructed by God
iv. Abraham was 75 years when God called him
v. He took his wife Lot, all their possession, his servants and set forth to the land of Canaan.
vi. They passed through Canaan, god promised to give the land of Canaan to his
descendants.
vii. Abraham built an altar to the Lord at Shechem
viii. He moved to the mountain on the East of Bethlehem, built an Alter for the Lord and
called on the name of the Lord.

4. (a) Describe the call of Moses (Exodus 3:1-22) (8mks)


i. Moses was looking after his father-in-law’s sheep at Mt. Horeb/Sinai(v1)

ii. An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush which was not getting consumed.

iii. Moses turned to see the bush God called his name out of the bush (v3)
iv. Moses responded to God by saying “Here I am” (v4)
v. God commanded Moses not to move near to remove his shoes because the place was holy
(v5)
vi. God revealed himself to Moses as the God of his ancestors (v6/Abraham)
vii. Moses hid his face was afraid to look at God (v6)
viii. God told Moses that he had seen the suffering of his people in Egypt has come to deliver

5. (a) State the achievements of King David of Israel. (7mks)

(b) Promises that God made to David


i. God promises to give David descendant a place to live / God would give Israel their own land
ii. God promised to keep David ad his descendants safe from all his enemies / God would give
Israel peace during his reign
iii. He promised to rise up an heir from the descendants of King David to sit on the throne/ he
would keep his kingdom strong for his sons
iv. He would let David’s son to be the one to build the temple for him
v. He will established an everlasting dynasty from David
vi. God would send a messiah a descendant of king David

(c)Relevance of the promises made to David for Christians today
i. Through the promises, Christians believe that Jesus a descendant of David was born.
ii. Christians believe that they are descendants promised to David.
iii. Christians are beneficiaries of the promise of a permanent place for David’s which is heaven.
iv. Jesus is the king promised from the lineage of David.
v. The bodies of Christians form the spiritual temple in which the holy spirit is housed.
vi. Christians who join the kingdom would live in peace.
vii. Christians have a personal relationship with god their father.
