The slab was to be constructed, ER. Pravin wakchaure sir carried out plan for it and decided to
1 Construct the column in lapping of steel is to be done, quantity of steel was find using the
formulas in kg/m. all the orders for steel were given.
Holes were drilled in the slab using prescribed machines and chemicals were put for bars to carry
2
well. And lapping was made by putting more steel and binding it.

Lapping of column
3
The quantity of concrete was to be find out using standard formulas, for m25 concrete ratio is 1:1:2, the
size of column is 330x200 mm, the standard formulas are length x width x depth, 0.3 x 0.2 x 0.550and we
we get its wet volume 0.033 and to convert wet volume into dry volume multiply the given value by
1.52, now calculate the quantity of cement by dividing 1 / 4 ( ratio 1;1:2 ) x 0.05016 ( dry volume ) and
calculate the qauantity of each material according to its ratio.

Columns were to be cast, the concreteing of column was to be done, according to m25 concrete
ratio i.e (1:1:2) cement, sand, aggregate and water were mixed in prescribed proportion and
4
after no time concreting of columns were done, now water curing was done for 7 days column
had given good finishing and looked perfect

Checking of work by client.
Now the columns were casted the tests were carried out, so that to check whether the columns
achieved complete compressive strength of m25 concrete ratio after 7 days curing. The tests was done
6
by Rcc consultants. After that preparation for slab started and again quantity of steel an raw materials of
concrete was find out using standard formulas.

Week 4: From. : 28 / 06 / 2023 To : 03 / 07 / 2023
Expected Work: Study of testing and quality assurance processes.
List the Sections of Industry visited and list the major testing and quality assurance processes studied there.
Day Activities Carried out
Columns were casted and after 7 days of curing, the column should have achieved optimum strength and
1 for that pupose our client and ER. Pravin wakchaure sir decided to conduct tests on column for further
work to begin as soon as possible.
2 It was decided to carry out rebound hammer test under the guidance of professional RCC
consultants, the rebound hammer test is a nondestructive testing apparatus, whereby the
spring driven mass is measured after its impact with concrete surface. Then the rebound
number gives us the info how much the column has achieved strength or how much load it is
capable to resist.
Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education
Rebound hammer test
the rebound hammer test was made on all the columns, the concrete grade we designed is m25 and
3 all proportions of cement, sand, aggregate and water were prescribed. Now the rebound hammer was
struck on columns on all the four sides of the columns and its mean was calculated.
All the columns gaved rebound number above 20 which means the column has completely achieved
4
Strength of m20 and above. Which is a sign that column has achived a good compressive strength.
5 2 of the columns showed less strength which is not allowable it showed about 17 / 18
rebound number which means the column had not achieved complete compressive strength
of m20 concrete ratio but here we are expected to achieve compressive strength of m25, so
this column is not allowable. It might collapse after some years.
Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education
The reason behind the less strength of column is the concrete did not achieved enough hydration due to
weather condition, there was cloudy weather past 5 to 6 days when that column was casted which
resulted in difficulty in hydration process and so as the less ccompressive strength after 7 days of
6
complete water curing. Now after 28 days the column will again be tested by rebound hammer to check
whether the column has achieved complete m25 concrete strength or not. After that further construction
work will be carried out.

Week 5: From. : 04 / 07 2023 To : 09 / 07 /2023
Expected Work: Study of preventive and breakdown maintenance & safety Practice adopted in Industry
List the Sections of Industry visited and list
i. The major machines/plants whose preventive and breakdown maintenance procedures studied.
ii. The major safety practices adopted in the industry. iii. Organization chart of the industry with
responsibilities of different departments/posts.
Day Activities Carried out
On that day we went to another site where finishing work was carried out like plastering,
applying putty to internal walls and ceiling etc. and the ER. Pravin sir gaved us information about
1
the types of building and according to building type which type of flooring / tiles are suitable to
particular type of building.
The site we visited was a educational building which was to be constructed it is the BAMS
medical college building to be constructed so kota flooring is suitable for college building due to
2
its toughness, quality, ability to be easily cleaned, economy, durability and alluring look. Kota
tiles are a great choice for warm regions regions to keep the floor underfoot cool.
We saw the tiles are fitted, in which firstly sand is spread alover the floor to a certain level and at the corner
or at the wall certain level is fixed by using plumb bob and line dori while fitting the tiles over the floors it is
3
checked that the tile is levelled or not by using the plumb bob and line dori which is fitted at the corner and
according to that the sand is adjusted for tile to be in level.
Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education
After geting the level and adjusting the sand, the mortar is applied on the tile and is fitted on
sand, in mortar water proportion is more when it comes to tile fitting due to which mortar
4
becomes sticky and tile are fitted well, and then dry cement is applied at the edges of the tiles
using hands.
On that day ER. Pravin sir taught us how to calculate quantity of tiles, he gaved us a metallic tape and taught us to
measure the dimensions of room. We measured and we came to know that room size is 4.8 x 7.2 ( b x d) = 34.56,
then he told us find area of tiles, tiles were square section so its area is calculated by b x d ( 0.8 x 0.8 ) = 0.64 now
5 the standard formulas to calculate the quantity of tiles are
Quantity of tiles = room size / area of tiles
= 34.56 / 0.64 = 54
= 54 ( no. of tiles required )
When the tiles are fitted it is again checked by level tube / bubble tube

Expected Work: Report writing
List the Sections of industry visited and list the major manual/broachers such as operational manual, safety manual,
maintenance manual, quality manuals referred/ studied there for preparation of reports.
Day Activities Carried out
On this day ER. Pravin sir taught us how to calculate the quantity of steel by using standard
1 formulas, he showed us the plan of footing in which we came to know about various types of
footings, excavation size in mm, steel along short span , steel along long span.
ER. Pravin sir drawn a small diagram on a paper in which he showed us the how the footing is
and told us x – direction and y – direction in footing, he told us hook ups are the bent up made
2
at the end which is 100 mm in length , he told minimum covering taken for formwork for purpose of
concreting is 50 mm and genereally 200 mm spacing is taken.
Signature of Industrial Supervisor………………………………………..
On that day ER. Pravin sir taught us about bar bending schedule which was a very interesting part.
ER. Pravin sir drawn a diagram in which he assumed a footing of 2m x 2m with a spacing of 200 mm and
covering of 50 mm in both directions and taught us how to calculate bbs using standard formulas as
shown below.
BAR BENDING SCHEDULE ( BBS ) OF FOOTING
1. CUTTING LENGTH IN X – DIRECTION
3
LENGTH - COVERING IN BOTH DIRECTION – 2DX2 +2 X HOOK LENGTH
2000 – 2x50 – 2x20 + 2x100
= 2000 – 100 – 40 + 200
= 2.050 M ( cutting length of x _ direction )
4 On that day we arrieved on site at 10 am and greeted ER. Pravin sir and he told us let us
continue our bar bending schedule and taught us how to calculate no. of bars in footing
2. Number of bars in x _ direction
Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education
length – covering in both direction / spacing + 1
2000 – 2x50 / 200 ( spacing )
= 11 number of bars
On this day pravin sir showed us how to calculate weight of stell i.e quantity of steel using
standard formulas.
Number of bars x cutting length
11 x 2.050 M
= 22.55 M
WEIGHT = D X D / 162
5
= 10 X 10 / 162
= O.617 KG / M
= 14 KG
SAME IN Y _ DIRECTION = 14 X 2 = 28 KG
28 KG OF STEEL WILL BE REQUIRED.
On this day we our training was over we thanked ER. Pravin sir and the respected contractor
6
and concluded our internship and were happy for practical knowledge we grasped.
