EP Current Transformers
Low Voltage Metering & Protection Series
METERING SERIES
EP complete and comprehensive range of CT current transformers are the perfect
solution for indirect measurement of the electrical parameters that characterize a system where
reliability, accuracy and quality are required.
Construction
High grade silicon iron cores are carefully selected, then insulated and protected by
polypropylene covering on which the secondary winding is toroidally wound by
precision semi-auto winding machines.

PROTECTION SERIES
Protection current transformers are used with protective relays that have the role of
disconnecting downstream circuit in the event of a current surge. Proportional
transmission behavior of the transformer up to a multiple of the nominal current is
required for the reliable function of this relay. The dimensioning of this transformer design
safeguards proportional current transmission up to a multiple of the nominal current
determined by the protection class.
The classification of protection current transformers follows the following
simple formula:
"5 P 10"
Indicates composite Indicates factor of
error achieved in primary current up to
Brand: EP percentage terms which composite error
will be achieved
‘P’ for Protection
Features
• Available from 60A – 6300A
• Accuracy class 5P10, 10P10, 10P5
& 5P20
• Protection Types
• Other Ranges Upon Request
In addition the classification of protection current transformers indicates accuracy
class: 5P – current transformer will have a ratio error of 1% and phase error not
exceeding 60 minutes. 10P – current transformer will have a ratio error of 3% (no level of
phase error specified).
The EP protection series cover three most popular classifications of protection current
transformers, 5P10, 10P5 and 10P10. Other classifications are possible (such as 5P20
or 10P20). Please consult factory for a quotation should you require an alternative
classification or a current transformer with different dimensions.
