Introduction
The internship opportunity which was given to me by AKR Express was an
extraordinary chance for me to learn and develop professionally. Thus, I feel
very lucky to be a part of this company for [ 3 ] long months and to work and
learn from my colleagues as well. During my internship at AKR Express, I have
met some incredibly professional and learned people and for that, I am extremely
grateful. All through my internship, I have been led by amazing people at AKR
Express.
Bearing in mind previous I would like to use this opportunity to extend my
special thanks and express my gratitude to the Branch Agent of AKR Express,
took time out and guided me where I needed guidance in spite of being
extraordinarily busy with his duties, which allowed me to carry out my duties
in a way that would add value to his organization. I would also like to thank
my Support staff Mr Prashanth for his instructions and guidance which really
helped me out a lot throughout my internship. I would also like to express my
gratitude towards Miss [NAME] for providing me this internship opportunity
and my Academic Supervisor Mr. [NMAE] for helping me with his knowledge

Company Overview
AKR EXPRESS is a leading, ISO 9001:2000 certified Parcel Service Company
based in Tamilnadu, India. In1994, AKR EXPRESS established its presence
with a strong objective to serve the customers with utmost care. Through the
years of experience, AKR EXPRESS has crossed many milestones, and has put
in a lot of effort to understand the requirements of the customers in the transport
industry. The directors of the company are Engineers, with strong aspirations
to bring in a positive difference to the parcel service industry.
The people at AKR EXPRESS Parcel Service render the best of quality
services that has helped all their customers to enjoy a fruitful relationship over
the years. From the date of inception, AKR EXPRESS had been following
proper management strategies, strong ethics and high quality that have
contributed to the fast recognition among customers.
Right from the beginning AKR EXPRESS believed in Innovation as the key to
Success. Henceforth the company focused on being the trend setters; and a
decade back, after a careful analysis of the weaknesses of the market, AKR
EXPRESS introduced overnight service for the first time ever in Tamilnadu, by
a Parcel Service company. Very soon, door delivery and door pick up was
introduced, once again, for the first time in Tamilnadu by a Parcel Service
company. AKR EXPRESS operated only through container bodied vehicles
right from the word go, so as to ensure the safety of the customer goods. These
rapid measures soon became the main discussions among the competitors, and
they were forced to wake up, as a fresh enthusiastic company was capturing a
vast portion of the market share at a rapid pace.
Currently, there are 14 branches in Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra
Pradesh, and Pondicherry. About 200 vehicles rev their engines to cater about
250 offices located across the deccan plateau. The vehicles cover about 1
million Kilometres every month.

FOUNDED IN 1997
Innovators from the get-go. Basic facilities such as Overnight Operations,
Door Delivery, Door Pick-up, 100% Container Vehicles, were rare in our
industry back then. We steered the industry forward by implementing these
facilities right from Day 01. We were also the first in the industry to
introduce SMS Alerts & SMS Tracking.

Delivery is seamless, swift, transparent and proactive, where our Customer
wouldn’t feel the need to contact us. But when they do need to reach out to

management, route optimization, and resource allocation.

sorting, handling, and processing parcels, learning best practices
for efficient and accurate parcel management.
➢ Customer Service: To appreciate the significance of excellent
customer service in the parcel delivery industry, and develop skills
in addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
➢ Emerging Technologies: To explore the role of emerging
technologies such as GPS tracking, drones, and autonomous
vehicles in revolutionizing parcel delivery operations.
➢ Problem-solving Skills: To identify potential challenges in parcel
delivery operations and develop creative solutions to enhance
efficiency, security, and customer satisfaction.
➢ To comprehend the logistics involved in parcel handling, including
sorting, tracking, and delivery.
Training Levels:
Following are the training levels which will help understand on what
level I have been working each week:

These levels will be mentioned in each week’s report.
Week 1:
In the first week of my internship I was working the Booking Department. My
timing was from 9.30 a.m. till 5.30 pm making it a total of 8-hour shift. I started
my internship on the [DATE] . On the first day, they given an introduction
about the company. I am visited all other department.
The next day, I got a chance to see and learn the working of all the billing and
booking machine in the office. On the third day, I worked in the department of
stock inventory and I worked for 5 hours. That day, I visited other branch to
learn more about the company and my work as well.
On the fourth day, I was again working in the veerabhadra nagar and I worked
for 8 hours. I visited Kumbalagodu branch to see how each branch works. On
the last day of the first week, I worked for 8 hours and I prepared out going
stock.
In the week of my Internship, I was working in goods booking department . I
worked for 8 hours the whole week. The first day, I was get booking tutorial
in which we had an orientation about AKR Express and everything in the
company. On the second day, they taught me how to work in the AKR Express
application and they gave me some tasks. On the third day, I attended an online
meeting which was about card rate.
On the fourth day, I worked Kumbalagodu branch for 6 hours and I learnt how
the items are sorted and the loading (on/off) manually takes place. On the fifth
day, I worked for 8 hours again.
Week 2:
In the third week of my internship, I worked in loading and unloading
department. Every day of that week, I worked for 8 hours except for the fourth
day as I worked for 6 hours that day. The first day, I attended a long meeting
on teams. The second day, I worked on excel sheet for expenditure entries . The
next day, I did the same duties i.e. worked on power point and excel for
updating booking and delivery data.
The fourth day, I was supposed to find solutions for the problems that company
was facing. To help the company, I brainstormed and whatever solutions came
in my mind, I took notes. On the last day of that week, I meat marketing
manager.
In the fourth, I was again working in the same department i.e. inventory
department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week as well except for the
fourth day as I worked for 6 hours that day. On the first day, I attended an
online meeting on teams. The second day, I went out for shipping and I drove
to many places. I also learned about the tracker and the application that drivers
use. The third day,
I entered data on excel sheet for fleet operations. On the fourth day, I had a
meeting with the operations manager and I brainstormed and discussed the
project with him in detail. On the last day, I had an online meeting on teams.
In the end of the week, I was again working in the same department i.e.
operation department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week as well
except as I worked for 6 hours that day. The first day , I had a virtual meeting
with operations team. The second day I gave weekly updates about the ground
performance. The third day I entered data on the excel sheet for fleet operations
and analysed it. The fourth day I was given a project to work on by my leader
so I worked on that project in order to achieve certain goals. On the fifth day I
again had a virtual meeting with operations team.
Week 3
In the sixth week, I was again working in the same department i.e. Al
GHAROUD operation department except for the fourth day as I worked in Jabal
Ali Department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week as well
except for 2 days as I worked for 6 hours on those 2 days. The first day I had
a virtual meeting with operations team. The second day I worked on the project
assigned to me and gathered more ideas and solutions. I also had a meeting
about the weekly report with the team. The third day I did a small presentation
on regarding my project with my supervisor. On the fourth day I went to the
Jabal Ali facility and Logistics in AKR Express. On the last day of this week ,
I had a virtual meeting and entered data in the excel sheet.
During this week, I worked in two different departments i.e. Jabal Ali
Department and operation department. For three days I worked in operation
Department and for two days I worked in Jabal Ali Department. For 4 days I
worked for 8 hours and just one day I worked for 6 hours. The first day I had
a virtual meeting with operations team. The second day I was doing the supply
chain with the expo project and gain new ideas. The next day I went through
my project and gave new ideas and also analysed data and worked on it. The
fourth day I had a virtual meeting with the operations team about the project
that they assigned me to work on. On the last day of this week, I had a virtual
meeting and entered data in the excel sheet.
During this week, I was again working in the same department i.e. operation
department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week as well except for the
fourth day as I worked for 6 hours that day. On the first day , I sat with the
procurement team and learnt more about the fleet, price and how to cut costs.
The next day , I had a virtual meeting with the operations team. On the third
day , I had a meeting with procurement team and operations team about the
fleet and I gained so much more information which will help me complete my
project and also gave me new ideas. On the fourth day to manage the data and
to confirm actual count of fleet, I compared what was missing from the data.
On the last day, I had a virtual meeting with procurement team and worked
entered their data on excel sheet as well.
Week 4:
In the ninth week, I was again working in the same department i.e. Al
GHAROUD operation department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week
as well except for the fifth day as I worked for 6 hours that day. On the first
day I had a virtual meeting with the operations team which was about the
weekly report. The second day ,
I worked on the excel sheets and entered data regarding fines and accidents of
the vehicles. On the third day I did physical counting of the vehicles in the
same branch to check and to collect data. On the fourth day I had a meeting
with the Field Supervisor regarding my project and if I should continue
working on it or not. On the last day of this week I had a virtual meeting with
the procurement team.
In the tenth week, I was again working in the same department i.e. Al
GHAROUD operation department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week
as well except for the fifth day as I worked for 6 hours that day. On
the first day I had a virtual meeting with the operations team about the weekly
report and I also gave them updates. On the second day I had a virtual meeting
the operations team again. On the third day ,
I worked on the tasks that they gave me to finish up with the university project.
On the fourth day , I had a meeting with the management team about the new
project. On the last day of this week I had a virtual meeting with the operations
team.
Week 5:
During this week, I worked in two different departments i.e. operation
department and Al Sharjah Operations Department. For two days I worked in
the Al Sharjah Operations Department and for three days I was working
operation department. On the first day , I had a virtual meeting with operations
team and entered data in the excel sheets. On the second day , I had a virtual
meeting with the operations team based on the weekly report and I also gave
updates about the innovations in AKR Express.
On the third day I worked on the tasks that they gave me to finish up with the
university project. On the fourth day I had a meeting with the operations team.
On the last day of this week I had a meeting with the management about the
new project and worked on the presentation for the management for the next
week.
In the last week of my internship, I was again working in the same department
i.e. Operation department. I worked for 8 hours every day of this week as well
except for the fifth day as I worked for 6 hours that day. On the first day I had
a virtual meeting with the operations team about the weekly report and I also
gave them updates. On the second day I had a virtual meeting regarding the
weekly reports and I also gave updates.
On the third day of this week I entered data in excel sheets regarding fleet
timing and couriers. On the fourth day, I made a presentation on the final project
that I did for AKR Express which was mainly based on the issues the company
has i.e. time scheduling. On the last day I had a meeting with the management
team and we went through the data and talked about the new ideas and whether
they should be implemented or not.
Achievements and Contributions to the Company:
Throughout my internship in the parcel services industry, I have made
significant contributions and achieved notable milestones, demonstrating my
dedication, skills, and commitment to excellence. Below are the key
contributions and achievements during my internship:

Conclusion & Recommendations
AKR Express is a big corporate and is working very well and this is why it is
also very successful in the Shipping and Courier Industry. The higher-level
Management is very good which is why my internship experience has been
outstanding but they still need improvements. I have learnt many skills which
will help me in my professional life. The colleagues and the management
were very cooperative with me and helped me complete my internship.
Overall, my internship experience has been wonderful and allowed me to
learn a lot of things that I could not learn during my normal university classes.
My supervisors have been extremely helping and cooperative with me as well
and helped me gain this internship experience. I have learnt that there is a lot
of difference between theory and doing thing practically. The experience that
I have gained while working for AKR Express will really help me in my
internship. I enjoyed each and every day working for a corporate like AKR
Express mainly because the work environment was really good. I would
recommend the company to make their management take decisions that are
strategic. The company should also do a research about the advantages of
interpolation tools and information analysis. They should also teach their
employees the skill of data mining and business intelligence. The company
will stay competitive when these tools will be implemented.
