Script Execution Instructions
a) Scrutinize the contents of the script to ensure that it does not contain any statements,
commands or any other code that might negatively influence their environment(s) in either a
security or operational way.
b) Test the script on the test environment to ensure that it does not contain any statements,
commands or any other code that might negatively influence their environment(s) in either a
security or operational way.
c) The final responsibility for executing this script lies with the client.
d) It is advised to execute the script during off-peak hours.
e) The client must remove all copies of the script as it is the property of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The client may retain the script results.
These instructions are for MS SQL Server 2008 running on Windows Server, with the administrator
connecting via remote desktop or VNC.

1. Copy the file PwC_SQL2008_script.zip to the SQL Server, and extract it to a new folder
entitled e.g. C:\sqlsrv.

2. Run the run_SQL2008.bat file, as shown below.
Omitting the “.bat” extension will cause execution to fail!
You will be prompted to identify the instance and credentials. The script requires admin
privileges to complete successfully.
If ‘not recognized as an internal or external command’ errors appear,

3. Where passwords are asked, a popup box will appear, in order to mask the password.
4. The script output will be consolidated into a single file called
PwC_SQL2008_yyyy-mm-dd_HHhMM.zip
5. Copy the .zip output file to encrypted PwC USB storage such as an XKey.
