Goal: Write about a place you want

to visit and explain what kind of fun
activities you would do in the place.

Topic:
Write about a fun place you want to visit. What activities would you do?

Sample Essay

I love visiting places I have never been to before. It is filled with adventure and different
activities that can only be experienced in those places. Among all the exciting locations to visit, my
three choices are Hawaii, Antarctica, and the moon. I am sure I will have lots of thrilling adventures in
these places.
Hawaii is a famous tourist spot known for the beaches and climate. Lots of people visit Hawaii
for the beautiful beaches, relaxing atmosphere and the lively Hawaiian culture. I enjoy walking in the
sunny beach on a warm summer day, and Hawaii is the perfect place for that. The lively Hula dancing
is another reason why I want to visit Hawaii. Although I have never seen Hula dancing before, I think it
would be entertaining to watch and maybe even learn it. Hawaii sounds like a delightful place with
gorgeous beaches and a lively culture.
I have read books about Antarctica, and I found it to be very intriguing. I want to learn more
about wildlife and science in the South Pole. Seeing cute penguins walking and swimming around the
icebergs and ocean would be amazing. Following and befriending the penguins would be a satisfying
adventure that I can only do in Antarctica. However, the only concern I have is that Antarctica is that
it is so cold. I will have to face the cold, yet I want to go to see penguins with my own eyes.
In the future, I believe people can build cities and live on the moon. That is why I want to gain
firsthand experience of the moon before everyone else. Not only it be a thrilling site to adventure, but
it would also be an excellent chance to pick a place to build my own house to live on the moon!
In conclusion, the three places I would like to visit are Hawaii, Antarctica, and the moon.
All three locations have engaging activities unique to those places. Thinking about the adventure and
activities that can be done gets me excited.

Goal: Write about 3 wishes you
would wish for and explain why you
want those wishes to come true.

Topic:
If you had 3 wishes, what would you wish for?

Sample Essay

In the movie Aladdin, Genie appears from a lamp and tells Aladdin that he will grant any three
wishes. If that happens to me right now, I would be thrilled that 3 of my wishes will come true, but I
would also have to be very careful of what I request for. The three wishes I would make are being able
to fly, making me smart, and making my family happy.
My first hope is to be able to fly. Being able to fly will help me travel around faster than cars
provided that there is nobody else flying around other than me. When traveling by car, I must stop
and wait in the red light, but I don’t have to wait for a green light if I fly over the traffic lights. Flying
will help me get to places faster and easier, and I also will not have to pay for bus or subway rides if I
can fly around.
I also dream of being the smartest person in the world. I want to be famous and be on
television for being the most intelligent person, even brighter than Einstein. Everyone will know my
name and how smart I am, and I seek to use my brain to make everyone’s lives better. Given that, I
can make tons of inventions that would change how we live. For example, I want to find a way to
make airplanes faster to reduce flying time. Granted that I can be the smartest person in the world, I
aim to use my ability to make everyone’s lives better.
The last wish I would make is to make my family happy. Everybody longs for happiness in their
life, but not everyone is happy. I think happiness is the most crucial factor in life. They say that even
money cannot buy happiness. As long as my family is happy, I don’t yearn for anything else.
In conclusion, my three biggest wishes are being able to fly, being the smartest person in the
world and making my family happy. I know it is not very likely, but I dream of a day where Genie
comes to me to grant my wishes.

Goal: Explain whether you think video
games can be educational and
support your opinion with reasons.

Topic:
Do you think video games can be educational?

Sample Essay

Playing video games is my favorite hobby. I have learned a lot from playing video games. With
my experience, I think that video games can be educational. Some video games are designed to be
instructive, video games help us to be social and they can help us learn new words and phrases.
Many video game companies have already created games that were meant to be academic.
These games are strictly designed to help students learn specific objectives, such as history and math.
Seeing that many students like video games, companies found a way to combine studying with video
games so students can enjoy learning. These educative games proved to be useful in schools.
Video games can help the players be social as well. While some video games don’t have
productive goals, most video games can be beneficial for students to learn how to be social.
Considering how most students like to play multiplayer games with their friends, they can learn how
to socialize through playing video games.
Some video might contain difficult words or phrases. This can be informational to students who
are willing to learn these words. For example, games that are in English and has English voice actors
can be informational to students who are learning English, since they can hear and learn how words
are used. Learning a language is an enlightening use of video games.
In conclusion, I think video games are educational because some games are made to teach,
players can learn to be social and video games can be used to learn languages. I hope more people
understand that video games can be constructive.

Goal: Write about which of your talents

Topic:
Which of your talents do you value the most?

Sample Essay

People have different talents. Some people are good at singing and dancing while other people
are good at physical activities. Some of these talents are more important than others. The three
talents I treasure the most are my talents in leadership, creativity and humor.
One of the talents I appreciate the most is leadership. I think of myself as a natural born leader.
When I do any group works, my friends vote me to be the group leader. I am good at being a leader.
For instance, I am in charge of combining everyone’s opinions and giving out roles to my group
members. Not everyone can do what I do, which makes leadership a respected talent.
Another esteemed talents that I have is creativity. I always find different ways to answer
questions, which sets me apart from others. In particular, I am good at finding new ways to solve
math questions. My math teacher praised me for being creative, which made me acknowledge it even
more!
I am also admired for my humor, and that is my third talent. I am popular among my friends
thanks to the jokes I tell them. When I tell jokes to my friends, they laugh and tell their jokes. Some of
them, such as “What would bears be without bees? Ears!” make my friends laugh hard. Without my
sense of humor, I don’t think I would be as popular as I am right now. That is why I cherish my humor
so much.
In conclusion, the top three talents I regard the most are leadership, creativity and humor. All
three talents made me who I am today, and I am lucky to have them.

Goal: Describe what you want in your
ideal home. Explain why you want
those features in your ideal home.

Topic:
Describe your ideal home. What would it have?

Sample Essay

I always wanted to live in a big house, just like the ones that are shown in Hollywood movies.
Among all the houses I’ve seen in film, there is one that fits my imagination perfectly. My dream
home will have a swimming pool, will be at least three stories tall and will have a huge backyard
garden.
The most important feature of my picture-perfect home is a swimming pool. A swimming pool
is necessary since it would be a great place to spend time with friends, have parties, and exercise by
myself. I can already imagine myself inviting my friends over to hang out in my pool. My ultimate
home will definitely have a pool, and my heart is racing from thinking about it.
My perfect house will have a room for everything, and therefore it needs to be more than
three stories. In addition to having basic rooms such as the kitchen and living room, I want my
flawless house to have a room for each of my hobbies. For instance, a mini library where I can keep
mountains of books and a comfortable chair to read would be fitting. I want a room for every purpose
in my house so it will be at least three stories high.
Last but not least, my model house will not be complete without a big, beautiful garden in the
backyard. The garden will have all kinds of exotic flowers and plants so that the garden looks vibrant
and refreshing. It would be a nice final touch to my optimal home.
In conclusion, the exemplary house I would like to live in will have a swimming pool where I
invite my friends, will be at least three stories tall so it can accommodate rooms for all my hobbies
and lastly, an enormous garden to make the house looks impeccable.

Goal: Express your opinion on
whether you think English is more
important than math. Explain why.

Topic:
Do you think English is more important than math?

Sample Essay

English and math are both crucial subjects in school. Both of them are very useful in everyday
life as well. While it is hard to choose which is more essential, I think English is more valuable than
math because English is a global language, is used on the internet and many great movies and books
are in English.
The first reason why I think learning English is necessary is because English is a global language.
In other words, knowing English can be helpful not only in English speaking countries but also in other
countries where English is not the official language. For example, even if English is not the primary
language in Korea, many Koreans know English. Even if American tourists do not understand any
Korean, they can travel around using only English. While math cannot help us travel to other
countries, English can play a key role in traveling.
Subsequently, English is the most common language used on the internet. When I need to look
up information online, English is the most commonly used language on Google. Some information is
even only available in English, and not in any other languages. Therefore, English can be very useful
when searching online compared to math.
Lastly, English is the base language for multiple famous films and books, so learning English
would play a critical role in enjoying these cultural pieces. Many blockbusters are produced in
Hollywood in the United States, and naturally, are in English. The best-selling fiction books, such as
Harry Potter, is also written in English. I think understanding these masterpieces in their original
language brings a whole new experience compared to the translated versions.
To sum up, I think English is more influential than math because English is a global language
that can be used almost anywhere around the world, can be used to search information online and is
the language which numerous books and films are made in.

Goal: Pick three words that would
describe you the best. Explain why
those words describe you well.

Topic:
What three words describe you the best?

Sample Essay

We all have different personalities, and some people are outgoing, while others are quiet.
Many adjectives would outline me well, but there are some that fit me perfectly. Those words are
diligent, optimistic, and honest.
The first word that reflects me is diligent. In other words, I am a hard worker. I always study
hard for my classes and do my homework on time. Even though I have much other homework to do, I
have never missed a single homework for my English class! I study hard to be the smartest student in
my class, so the word diligent would be an excellent word to depict me.
Another word that portrays me is optimistic. I always try and look at things on the bright side,
even when things are looking bad. For example, there was one time when I messed up on a unit quiz
and got a low score. Despite my poor performance, I was able to stay positive and study hard for the
next exam and eventually scored 100. Without staying positive, I don’t think I could have done it.
Last but not least, I illustrate myself as an honest person. Among my friends, I am known to be
the most honest student in my class. I have never told a lie to my parents, my friends, and my
teachers. Although there are times where I am tempted to lie, I end up being upfront. Everyone
around me pictures me as an honest person, and I am grateful for it.
In conclusion, the three words that characterize me are diligent, optimistic, and honest. I
always study hard, stay positive, and never tell lies to anyone. I have my parents to thank for these
personalities.

Goal: Think about three rules you must
follow at home. Write about whether
you like those rules or not and why.

Topic:
What are some rules you must follow at home?

Sample Essay

Rules are important because nothing can get done without them. Most places have their own
rules, including my home. Some standards I have to follow are doing my chores, finishing my
homework before playing video games, and eating vegetables every meal.
The most important routine in my home is doing my chores. Some of the tasks I need to do
include vacuuming my room, making my bed, and watering the plants. Sometimes I think I have too
much to do, especially when I have lots of homework from school on top of the chores. However, I
know doing my duties is a requirement because everyone else has their jobs as well.
Another code I need to follow at home is finishing all my assignments before playing any video
games. Because doing my homework is more important than playing video games, I have to do my
homework first. Likewise, if I have something else important, I have to finish that first before playing
video games and watching tv.
The last policy that my parents set is eating vegetables every meal. My parents set this
instruction for a healthy diet, but I am not a fan of it. I don’t prefer eating vegetables because they
don’t taste good. For example, carrots are my least favorite vegetables because it tastes like dirt and
is hard to chew. However, I know I have to eat vegetables to be healthy, so I follow my parents’ guide.
Therefore, the three mandates my parents set for me at home are doing my chores, finishing
my homework before playing video games, and eating vegetables every meal. While I do not like
them, I know they are essential, so I follow them anyways.

Describe the most beautiful place you have been to.

Sample Essay

I have been to several different countries such as Japan, France and United States. All these
countries have famous tourist spots with magnificent views. However, in my opinion the most
stunning place I have been to is in Korea. The three most enticing places I have been to are Jeju Island,
Sapporo and the Central Park.
Jeju Island is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Korea. It is known for its dazzling
beaches and other natural sights formed by volcanic activities long time ago. The island was formed
when the volcano known as Hallasan erupted. Because it is an island, one of the most popular
features is the beach. Many Koreans visit Jeju in summer to enjoy the gorgeous, sunny beach for
vacation. Notably, Hyup-jae beach is known for having white sand with emerald colored ocean water,
and it was the most elegant sight I have ever seen in my life.
The winter in Sapporo is a close second in my list. Sapporo is the only place I have been to in
Japan. Because it is located in the northern most part of Japan, it is known for winter activities such as
skiing and snowboarding. In fact, the reason why I visited Sapporo was to ski as well! On the way to
the hotel from the airport, we drove on a road with two giant snow walls. The walls were at least 3
meters high, but the road did not have any snow on it. That was the most snow I have ever seen, and
it was truly an enticing sight. I hope to visit Sapporo and see the snow walls again.
Last but not least, the Central Park is also a popular place visit with wonderful views. Not only
is it in the middle of the largest cities in the world, but it is also the most filmed park in the world. In
the park, you could see the green trees and grass right next to tall, historic buildings of Manhattan,
including the renowned Metropolitan Museum. There is nothing quite like it anywhere else in the
world, and I think everyone needs to see it at least once.
In conclusion, the top three places I have been to with the most exquisite views are Jeju Island,
Sapporo and the Central Park. Each one of these sites have their own unique, alluring scenes and are
worth visiting.

Goal: Write your opinion about whether all
students should be required to read more
books. Explain why you think so.

Topic:
Do you think all students should be required to read more books?

Sample Essay

My parents always tell me that books know everything. They say reading books will not only
make us smarter but more knowledgeable as well. I agree with them and think all students should be
mandated to read more books because reading helps them gather information, develop language
skills, and learn how other people think.
Reading books is a great way to gather information. There are many books available in
different levels of difficulties to almost every question you might imagine. For instance, some books
explain complicated science in forms of comics so that even kids can understand the content. If
students were to be obligated to read books like this, it would help them become more
knowledgeable.
Furthermore, students can advance their language skills through reading. For example, some
students might learn new words and sentences in a book. Others might find textbooks easier to read
after doing the required readings. In either case, students can develop their language skills by learning
vocabularies and phrases through reading books or practicing reading other books. Therefore,
students should be advocated to do more readings.
Finally, students can see other’s opinions through reading books. In many cases, authors write
their views on their writings. When students read these books, they will either agree with the author
or disagree. In any event, students can develop critical thinking just by reading opinionated books. If
students are forced to read these books, they can learn how to think critically.
Therefore, students should be compelled to read more. Reading more could benefit students
by gathering knowledge, honing language skills, and developing critical thinking. Even if we are not
imposed to read more, I think I will continue reading all the same, because reading is fun.

Goal: Write about what you would invent
to make our lives better. Explain how your
invention will help us.

Topic:
What would you invent to make our lives better?

Sample Essay

There are many inventions that already exists that make our lives much more convenient.
Some examples include the lightbulb, cars and smartphones. If I could make anything to make our
lives even better, I want to create a teleporter, calorie-free foods and indestructible cars.
I am not very good at keeping times. Many times, I arrive school late and get scolded by my
teacher for tardy. For this reason, I thought of building a teleporter. If I can teleport anywhere, I will
not be late to any classes or appointments because I can just get on the teleporter and press a button
to get anywhere. With a teleporter, I will be able to be anywhere on time.
Another useful invention would be zero calorie foods. Many people go on a diet to lose weight.
Some people even refrain from eating delicious yet fatty foods. Some people pay lots of money for
personal training to lose weight. In consequence, I designed calorie-free foods. Because the calorie is
zero, even those who want to lose weight will be able to eat as much as they want to without
worrying about the calorie.
I have always wished a world without car accidents. As technology develops, we hear news
about self-driving cars lately. However, to go even further, I want to forge an indestructible car. With
an indestructible car, nobody will get hurt even when accidents happen. Hence, indestructible cars
will greatly enhance our lives.
While there are tons of inventions I would like to come up with, my three choices are
teleporters, calorie-free foods and indestructible cars. These three will help make the world a more
convenient place to live.

Goal: Write about topics animals would talk

Topic:
If animals could talk, what would they talk about?

Sample Essay

I have seen a lot of animations where animals talk. For example, in Lion King, Simba and other
animals all communicate in human language. Watching Lion King made me wonder what animals
would chat about if they could converse. I think animals will not be much different from humans, and
will gossip about what do to, dinner menu and ask how each other has been.
Because animals do not have to study or work, they have lots of free time. For the purpose of
passing all the time they have, they might discuss about activities to do for the day. For example, birds
might decide to fly around and go sightseeing while flying around. To keep themselves busy, they
need to find something to do and I think that is one of the things animals would talk about.
Just like us humans, I think each animal will have their favorite food as well. Another topic
animals would talk about is what to have for dinner. Animals expressing their opinions on what they
want to eat for dinner would be very cute. With the intention of deciding the menu, they might even
vote! Animals chatting about dinner menu would be extremely cute.
The first thing humans do when meeting others is asking how they have been. I think that
animals would interact the same way. Kind animals like dogs will care about how other dogs or their
masters are. I can imagine my friend’s dog running around asking how we are.
In conclusion, I think if animals could talk, they will chat about their agenda for the day, dinner

If you had a million dollars, how would you spend it?

Sample Essay

There is a saying “money cannot buy happiness”. However, I think that even though money
cannot buy happiness itself, money can buy many things that can help you to be happier. If I had a
million dollars to use, I would buy a big house, eat expensive food and donate some for the poor.
The first and foremost way to make use of a million dollars is buying a new big house. My
dream house would have a swimming pool and a big garden in the backyard. I want to buy a big and
beautiful house to have my friends over for parties. The fact that my dream house is big means that it
will be expensive, but it would also be a great way to utilize the million dollars.
Another good way to go through the million dollars is by eating lots of expensive food. A good
quality restaurant with lots of awards can be expensive, but as for the price, the taste would be
unmatched! Expending money in fine dining would be an amazing way to put a million dollars to use.
Last but not least, I would like to donate a part of my million dollars to the poor people. We
can see a lot of articles of billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett donating millions of dollars for
the poor. Just like them, I think helping others is the right thing to do, and furthermore the right way
to expend any extra money.
In conclusion, if I had a million dollars, I would buy a huge house, visit lots of fancy restaurants

Do you think we shouldn’t use products made from animals?

Sample Essay

One of the most debated topics lately is the usage of animals. Humans use animals to make
clothes from their skins, make cheese and butter from milk, and gather meat from dead animals. We
shouldn’t keep using products from animals because animals are used in many different goods, are
popular worldwide, and I love meats.
Animal sins have numbers of different uses, many of which people don’t know they are
end-products of animal skins. Notably, lipsticks that people use today are made of tallow or solid
animal fat. Another surprising byproduct using animal are paints and glues made by animal protein. If
we stop using animals completely, we need to find new ways to make these merchandises.
Also, animals provide not only manmade commodities but also natural substances as well. In
particular, cheese and butter are some of the most used outcomes of milk around the world. I cannot
imagine the world without cheese and butter since they are extremely popular almost everywhere in
the world, including America, Italy, and so on.
Lastly, I think meat is the most crucial animal output for us. Not only are meats delicious, but
they also contain lots of protein which plants cannot provide. Without meat, every meal would be a
salad, and that sounds bland.
In conclusion, I think we should keep using products from animals because animals are useful,
healthy and I like eating meats. I don’t want to think of the world without animals.

Goal: Think about your goals and then write
about three of the goals you have set for
yourself. Explain those goals in detail.

Topic:
Write about three goals you have set for yourself.

Sample Essay

Life will not be fun without any targets. I will not feel motivated to do anything without any
achievements in my life as well. The three top objectives that I have set for myself are being a good
friend, waking up early every morning and getting perfect score for all my exams.
My first and biggest desire is to be everyone’s best friend. I know how important it is to be
good friends to others. I want to be a kind, understanding and reliable friend. When I be good friends
to others, I know others will try and be nice to me back. If they don’t, I can still say that I did my best
to be kind. In either case, I think it is a good ambition to be good friend with everyone.
I am very bad at getting up early, so my second plan is getting up early every morning. If I get
up earlier, I will never be late to school or any other events that happen in the morning. At any rate, it
will help me be responsible for keeping time.
I study very hard to do well on my exams, and I aim to get perfect score on all my exams. With
that in mind, I always strive to study as much as possible before the exams. My mom helps me fulfill
this aspiration as well, by helping me with questions I do not know the answers to.
In conclusion, the three most important goals that I have set are being best friends with
everyone, waking up earlier and getting perfect scores for all my exams. I know these plans can be
difficult to achieve, but I will do my best.

Write about how a smartphone helps us in our daily lives.

Sample Essay

Most people today have smartphones. They have become an essential part of our lives and
people spend hours using them. Smartphones assist us in many ways. They can be used to look up
information instantly when we need it, they can be used as a moving television and we can make
video calls to anywhere in the world.
We live in the world of information. There are times when we need information on the spot to
make further plans. Smartphones can be useful in these situations. For example, there is an
application that tells us what time a subway is coming, and how long it takes to get to a destination.
In other words, this application can improve our lives by providing information about time.
I love watching television and YouTube, and smartphones can serve as a portable television.
Simply speaking, smartphones are small televisions we can take anywhere. Whenever I have to go
outside when my favorite television show is on air, I take my smartphone with me to watch it outside.
I never missed an episode of my favorite show thanks to smartphones.
Last but not least, smartphones benefit our lives by being a tool for video calls. Applications
like Zoom or Skype can be used to call anyone no matter how far they are. I have cousins living in the
United States, and if I want to see their face, I can just call them over Skype to video call. I don’t need
a computer and a camera.
In conclusion, smartphones boost the quality of our lives by providing information instantly,
being portable televisions and tool for video calling. I am lucky to live in generation with smartphones
so I can make use of them.

Goal: Think about the best decisions you have

Topic:
Write about the best decision you have ever made.

Sample Essay

They say that life is a series of judgments. We make decisions every day. Even the simplest
ones such as which flavor ice cream to eat is a matter of choice. The three best decisions I made are
making lots of friends, learning English and eating healthy.
To begin with, I am proud of myself for making lots of friends. Making them my friends was the
best determination I have ever made. They are kind, supportive and funny. I always ask for their help
when I need, and they are happy to lend me a hand. Thanks to them, I can stay happy and that is why
I think making friends was the best decision I made.
Learning English was another great decision I have made. From learning English, I can now
watch and understand my favorite movies such as Harry Potter without any subtitles! I can also use
English when traveling around the world since it is the most used language in the world. The intention
to learn English proved to be useful.
Last but not least, the commitment to eat healthy helped me grow strong and energetic. I like
sweets, but I also know that eating too much sweets would be bad for my health and cause many
problems such as cavities. Therefore, I made the compromise to eat more green vegetables to stay
away from those problems. As a result, I grew up to be fit and strong.
In conclusion, the three best choices I have made are befriending my friends, learning English
and keeping a healthy diet. Without these commitments, I do not think I could have been who I am
today.

Explain why it is important to be honest.

Sample Essay

There is an old saying “honesty is the best policy.” No matter how much you think lying could
help in your situation, it is always best to speak the truth and stay sincere. Staying true to everyone is
very important because it shows that you are trustworthy, builds up your confidence and it earns you
respect from others.
The best way to prove that you are trustworthy is to be straightforward with everyone.
Nobody will believe a person who lies all the time. It is important to build trust with friends and family
and being authentic to them is the best way to build such relationship.
Subsequently, being upfront can help build up confidence. There can be situations where you
need courage to tell truth to others. By being authentic in those situations, you can practice not only
being trustworthy but being courageous as well.
Lastly, others will respect you for being reliable. Not only would others trust you more for
being honest, but they will also be truthful back. In addition, it would be a great way to be social and
make great friends. Ethical actions would help others respect you and can help you make dependable
friends.

Write about the skill, what you would do with
it and why you would like to learn it.

Topic:
If you could learn anything, what would it be?

Sample Essay

My favorite book is the Harry Potter series. The characters in the book can study and cast
magical spells, and from reading the series I thought of a few skills I would like to master, just like
Harry Potter in the books. I would like to be trained to fly, to read other people’s minds and to lift
things up with my magic wand.
The skill I would like to obtain the most is flying. If I can fly, I wouldn’t have to take the subway
or the bus again. Not only it would save money and time, but I would have a lot more fun while
traveling. For example, I can fly next to the birds and befriend them. I can also enjoy a whole new
view from the sky. Being able to fly would completely change my life.
Reading the thoughts of others would also be very useful. If I can be educated to read other’s
minds, I would use it to help prevent crimes. I would provide my skills for the police to catch any lying
criminals. My hope is that by attaining this ability, I can help put an end to all crimes.
Finally, I would like to learn to lift things up with my magic wand. In Harry Potter, there is a
scene where Harry and his friends learn how to carry objects with a magic spell. If I could take in that
ability, I would tech it to the construction workers who carries around heavy materials all day long.
Therefore, the three abilities I would like to attain are flying, reading people’s minds and
moving objects with my magic wand. If I could absorb these skills, I would use them to make the
world a better place to live.

Write about a time you made a big mistake. What did you do to fix it?

Sample Essay

As people say, “everybody makes mistakes”, there are times where I made significant flaws as
well. There were times when I got in a fight with my friend, did not listen to my mom and lied to my
teacher. However, in the end I corrected these mistakes.
The first serious error I made was getting in a fight with my friend. Me and my friend want to a
game shop to buy the new game that just came out. There was only one left in the store and both me
and my friend wanted it. We got into a fight about who will get the game, but we made up and
decided to share the game and play together.
Not listening to my mom is another critical mistake. Once, my mom asked me to do my chores,
but I refused to do so. She asked me nicely at first, and when I refused to do it at first, she asked again
and explained why I needed to do my chores. I finally realized that I have made a huge mistake, and
immediately mended it by doing my chores.
The last important mistake I have made happened when I lied to my teacher. My friends and I
were playing baseball at school, and we broke a window on accident. When my teacher asked, I lied
to her first and told her that we didn’t do it. After thinking about it, I realized that lying would break
the trust my teacher would have for me. I told her that we broke the window and apologized for not
telling her the first time. This restored the trust my teacher had for us.
To sum up, the three most substantial mistakes I made were getting in a fight with my friend,
ignoring my mom and being dishonest to my teacher. However, I repaired the situation by taking the
correct actions to the situations. I learned from my mistakes and I will never make the same mistake
again.

Topic:
Are your parents strict? Why or why not?

Sample Essay

There were times where I wish my parents were a bit softer on me. My parents can be stern as
I have to finish my homework before playing with my friends, have a curfew, and they want perfect
exam scores.
First, my parents require me to finish my homework before going out to see my friends. Even
when my friends can meet up right after the school ends, I have to get home and work on my
assignments. Sometimes, I can’t finish them before my friends are done playing. I wish my parents
could understand and stop being so forbidding.
Most of my friends don’t have a curfew, but I have one. This is another reason why I think my
parents are tough. I have to be back home by 7pm. Moreover, if I fail to do so, I get grounded for a
week. Because I don’t want to get grounded, I do my best to be at home by 7 every day.
Finally, I think my parents are uptight because they want me to get perfect scores on every
test. They want me to score 100 on English as well as math and science whenever I have exams at
school. In order for me to get a perfect score on these tests, I spend all evening studying.
In conclusion, I think my parents are stringent because I have to finish my assignments before

We face many challenges in our lives, and some are easy to overcome but some are difficult.
The three obstacles I find the most demanding to overcome are getting up early, playing less video
games and eating more vegetables.
Without any second thoughts, I find getting up early the toughest. Since I was very young, I was
known to sleep in. On weekends, I would sleep in till 10 or 11 am if nobody wakes me up. Even
though my friends tell me that going to bed early helps, I still find it hard to get up early. Waking up
early is definitely the most difficult challenge for me.
Another goal I find troublesome to achieve is playing less video games. Playing games is my
favorite hobby, and all my friends play the same game. I promised with my mom to play less games,
but I realized it was an ambitious goal to keep. Nevertheless, I am trying my best to keep the promise.
Last but not least, eating more vegetables can be problematic as well. This is also a promise I
made with my parents that I find burdensome to keep. I know how vegetables are important and
necessary to keep me healthy and yet I find it very challenging.

Topic:
If you became the president of Korea, what would you change?

I used to dream of being the president of Korea as a child, I wanted to be a good leader who
could reform the country so that everyone can be happy. If I become the president, I would remodel
Korea to provide food and house for the poor, prevent crime and lower medical bills.
The first thing I want to do when I become the president of Korea is to give food and shelter to
those who need them. I want to make a country where everybody is happy, and I think the first step
should be providing for the poor. This will fix the problems homeless people face and make Korea a
better place to live.
Another shift I would like to make is to make Korea a crime free land. I know how hard this
could be. Nevertheless, to make Korea a place where everyone can be happy, we need to get rid of
crimes. I believe that every country should do their best to prevent crimes, and Korea is not an
exception.
Finally, I want to modify the medical bills so they would be lower. Although Korea has a great
medical insurance, there are many cases where some people cannot afford their medical bills and
have to suffer the pain. I want everyone to have fair chances of being medically treated and therefore
will renovate the medical bills.

Everyone has the monumental days that they would like to keep in their memories forever. For
me, the most meaningful days in my life were the days when I won my first baseball game, met my

The most memorable day in my life was when I won a baseball game for the first time. I played
baseball for my school, and I was not a very good player. I loved playing baseball but there were
others who were a lot more experienced and skilled than I was. For the purpose of being a better
player, I practiced for hours everyday and eventually became the starting pitcher for a game. The hard
work I put in finally paid off and I won my first game. I have never been so proud of myself and
therefore I think this day is unforgettable.
Another significant day of my life was the day I met my best friend. I cannot imagine my life
without my best friend. We spend a lot of time with each other and play games or go to Kid’s Cafe.
We also study together so that we both can improve our grades as well. Since my best friend is very
important to me, the day I met him is naturally a notable day.
Last but not least, my first day school was an eventful day as well. It is always exciting to be at a
new place and meet new people, and school is a perfect place for that. I made so many new friends

I used to play baseball for my school, but I was not the most skilled player in the team. There

of my favorite activities is playing soccer with my friends after school. Even though it can be hot

physical activities to stay athletic.
My mother always buys organic vegetables from the supermarket because they are cleaner
than other vegetables. By eating these organic and clean salad, I am keeping myself in a good
condition. Though organic vegetables can be expensive, I think it is better to eat them over
non-organic ones.
Last but not least, I go to sleep early to keep myself lively. Many articles and shows say that
going to bed early and sleeping at least 10 hours a day gives enough energy for the day. Even on busy
days, I try to go to bed by 11 pm so that I can get enough sleep. By sleeping enough, I can keep myself

While it can be exciting for some people to go out and make new friends, others might find it
difficult. However, even these shy people can learn to be outgoing if they follow the correct
directions. Some recommendations I will give for these people are introducing yourself first,
participating in group activities and inviting them over to your house.
The first suggestion I would like to give is introducing yourself first to the others. To make new
friends, it is important to let them know who you are. Considering most people will be nice to
someone who they have met before, you are very likely to be comfortable talking to them.
Another good instruction is participating in group activities. Due to the nature of group
activities, you will have more chance to talk to others. Naturally, the more chance you have to talk
means the more chance you have to befriend them.
The last guidance I could give is inviting them over to your house. By inviting them, you are
showing that you want to befriend them. Moreover, there can be activities that can bring you closer
with them, such as showing the house around or watching television together.
In conclusion, the three lessons for making new friends are introducing yourself first,
participating in group activities and inviting them over to your house. I hope these advices can help
shy people make new friends.
