What do you need:
US terms
• fine/ sport/ 12 wpi yarn
CH - Chain
• hook 3 mm
SlSt - Slip stitch
• tapestry needle
SC - Single crochet
• common sewing thread and needle DC - Double crochet
• buttons average 8 mm Inc – increasing
• 1 button average 33 mm (2 stitches in one stitch)
• 2 pieces of black mushroom buttons average 6 mm Dec – decreasing
• toy filling (2 stitches together)
• ribbon 2.5 cm/1 inch, about 80 cm/31.5 inches length

I used this yarn:

mixture of cotton and acrylic
Kacenka by Nitarna Ceska Trebova
Yarn weight: Sport 5 ply / (12 wpi)
Yardage: 164 yards (150 meters) per 50g ball

I used these colors: 2254 orange, little amount of 3454 pink,1164 yellow, 3374 red, 0010
white. You will need about 28 g totally.

Tip: Tip for alternative material. You could use e.g. Jeans by Yarnart, Softfun by
Scheepjeswool, Cotton Blend by Red heart and another of your favorite yarn with similar
gauge.

I used a hook 3 mm
Gauge of the pattern: 11 stitches and 11 rows = in square of 2 x 2 inches

Size of finished hen: the hen is approximately 4.8 inches/13 cm tall (measured with the
comb and without ribbon tail), approximately 2.7 inches/7 cm width, and about 6.7 inches/17
cm long – measured with the bill. Please remember, that the size of finished hen depends on
used material and your own style of crocheting.

Needed skills:

Instruction

NOT join the rounds at the end and you will not turn the work, just crochet continuously. You

inc] – repeat 4 times totally, 1 SC in next stitch, 3 SC in last stitch. The work will make a little
