MURDER RATE ACROSS THE STATES

3734 DR. V. SIVADASAN:

Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) details of murder rate, State-wise, year-wise details during last five
years;

(b) how many of these are murders caused in communal attacks, State-
wise, year-wise details thereof;

(c) how many of these are Honour Killings, year-wise, State-wise details
during the last five years; and

(d) whether registration of higher crime rates indicate bad policing?

(a) to (d): National Crime Records Bureau compiles and publishes data

on murders in its annual publication ‘Crime in India’. The reports are

available till the year 2021. The State/UT wise details of cases

registered, crime rate under murder during the year 2017-2021 are at

Annexure-I. The State/UT wise details of cases registered under Motives

of Murder for Communal/Religious and Honor Killing during the year

2017-2021 are at Annexure-II. The data shows a declining trend of crime

rates in the year 2021 as compared to year 2017.
