1. Calculate the equivalent resistance of the given circuit.
(a) Ans 14.4 ohm (b) Ans 11 ohm

2. A 30-W incandescent lamp is connected to a 230-V source and is left burning continuously over a
dark staircase. Determine:
(a) the current through the lamp.
(b) the cost of operating the light for one non-leap year if electricity costs 6.5Rs/kWh.

3. *Three light bulbs are connected to a 9-V battery as shown in figure, calculate:
(a) the total current supplied by the battery,

7. (a) Three light bulbs are connected in series to a 100-V battery as shown in figure. Find the
current I through the bulbs.
(b) If the three bulbs of above problem are connected in parallel to the 100-V battery, calculate the
current through each bulb.
