What is LNG ‘rollover’?
Answer:
Rollover is rapid release of LNG vapor that can occur as a result of the spontaneous mixing
of layers of different densities of LNG in cargo tanks.
What is the difference between explosion proof and intrinsically safe?
Answer:
Intrinsically Safe means that an apparatus, such as a temperature transmitter is not capable
of causing an explosion. Explosion Proof means that should an explosion occur, it will be
contained within an equipment enclosure.
What Is The Main Function of (Re-)Condenser?
Answer:
In systems involving heat transfer, a condenser is a device or unit used to condense a
substance from its gaseous to its liquid state, by cooling it. In so doing, the latent heat is
given up by the substance, and will transfer to the condenser coolant.
What for Gas Compressor needed?
Answer:
A gas compressor is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of a gas by reducing its
volume. An air compressor is a specific type of gas compressor. Compressors are similar to
pumps: both increase the pressure on a fluid and both can transport the fluid through a
pipe.
Can you drill or make a cable gland within any intrinsically safe/exProof box/equipment?
Answer:
It is prohibited. Once it’s done it’s no longer protected equipment.
Can you perform any maintenance of ExProof motor in a special area?
Answer:
You can, but Class authority and ATEX, IECEx technicians/representatives must approve and
certify your job and equipment after completion.
Is LNG Flammable?
Answer:
When cold LNG comes in contact with warm air, it becomes a visible vapor cloud. As it
continues to get warmer, the vapor cloud becomes lighter than air and rises. When LNG
vapor mixes with air it is only flammable if within 5%-15% natural gas in air. Less than this is
not enough to burn. More than this, there is too much gas in the air and not enough oxygen
for it to burn.
What Is ‘Combustible Gas Mixture’?
Answer:
Combustible gas mixture is the proper ratio of fuel, air and source of ignition.
What Is a Hydrostatic test?
Answer:
Hydrostatic testing involves water-pressure testing a pipeline. It’s a proven method of
verifying the actual capability of a natural gas pipeline. We want our system to operate at a
safe level of pressure.
What Is “Smart Pig?”
Answer:
A smart pig is an electronic device that can be used to inspect the insides of natural gas
pipelines. The device travels through a pipeline and transmits images of the inside of the
pipeline so inspectors can tell if the pipeline needs repairs.
Explain Principle of Gas Detection System?
Answer:
Gas detection system measures the imbalance in the current loop caused by its active and
in-active filaments in the presence of a combustible gas.
What Is A ‘Flame Arrester’ In A Gas Sensor? What Does It Do?
Answer:
Flame arrester is used on the sensor's head. The sensors are continuously powered to burn
the combustible gas for measuring. The flame arrester prevents the occurrence of fire
outside the sensor.
How to check Gas detector Without Test Gas?
Answer:
Some gas detectors are provided with a self-test facility to check its alarm and shutdown
functions (levels).
