MEANING OF TECHNOLOGY
Technology can be defined as the knowledge that uses tools, materials and systems to
help make life easier. A well applied technology benefit but incorrect application can
cause harm to human beings.

1. KNOWLEDGE: This is a correct understanding of an idea or information. Example
ICT, transportation etc.
2. TOOLS: A tool is a device that we can use to carry out a particular function or task.
Example hammer, spanner, screw driver etc.
3. MATERIALS: Materials are things that can be natural or man –made. They are also
referred to as resources. Examples wood, steel, rubber etc.
4. SYSTEM: A system is a set of things (tools) that work together to get a job done.
