Holy Hour Activities for Children
Before the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the celebrant meets with the children and explains to
them what will happen.
He also shows them the ornaments he will wear and explains why and why he wears them.
MONITION
Let's put ourselves in the presence of Jesus and sing:
WORSHIP
Celebrant
Dear boys and girls, Jesus is present here in the midst of all of us, and in these moments he
smiles at you, because each one of you is special to Him. He knows each one by name and loves
them unconditionally and personally. I invite you now to praise him and thank him along with
me. He is very pleased when we are grateful. He is pleased that we come to Him and say, Thank
you Jesus for all the gifts you have given me.
For each thank you note we respond twice:
“ Thank you God for giving us life, Thank you God for giving us life”
Child
Thank you Jesus, for the trees, the water, the sun, the moon, the flowers, the birds, and all creation.
R/.
Thank you Jesus, for my family, my grandparents, my friends, my teachers, my catechists and for
all the people who care about me. R/.
Thank you Jesus, for my hands, my feet, my legs, my nose, for the gift of life, for creating me in
your image and likeness. R/.
Thank you Jesus, for your presence here among us. For wanting to stay among us in the Blessed

Now let us all together say this prayer to Jesus Eucharist.
“My Jesus, you are in the Host, I love you for me, you will be for me.” (3)
(Now the monitor invites the children to take a seat to pray a Mystery of the Rosary together
Monitor
Boys and girls, together let us offer this mystery of the Holy Rosary for all the children in the world
who do not have the opportunity to encounter Jesus because of violence, hunger, or because they live
in a distant place.
(At the end of the mystery all the children say the following prayer)
“My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, take us all to heaven, especially
those most in need of your mercy.”
Celebrant:
Savior of the world. R/.
“Grant us holy and numerous vocations”
Now let's all get on our knees and say the Fatima prayer. (repeat slowly)
Oh my God,
I believe,
I like,
I expect,
I love you.
I ask your forgiveness for those who do not believe,
They don't adore, they don't wait and they don't love you!
Monitor
Now let's stand up and tell Jesus how much we love him through this little song.
I have a friend who loves me, loves me, loves me…His name is Jesus.
You have a friend …
We have a friend….
- Tell me a story -
(The celebrant or a catechist invites the children to sit down and he or she tells them a story of
some Eucharistic miracle) sitting.
Example:
On a night in July 1348, the parish priest of Alboraya, Valencia (Spain) went to bring Viaticum
to a dying man. The storm that threatened did not deter him because he was a priest who loved the
Eucharist.
After his visit, just when he was preparing to return, the threatening storm broke out with
force. He thought that he could not stay in that house all night and, taking advantage of a moment of
temporary calm, he set out on the road with the ciborium tightly clutched close to his chest. The
storm did not let up and the road was dark and full of mud.
He continued on his way until he reached the most difficult pass, the Carraixet ravine. He
discovered that the water was very high and only a board served as a bridge. With renewed
determination he prepared to cross it, but halfway across that board, he lost his balance, slipped
and lost control of the ciboria which fell into the tumultuous waters of the torrent.
The priest did not stop. With extraordinary bravery he jumped into the waters to rescue the
three hosts he was carrying. He fought with all his might against the current, but to no avail. The
waters swallowed the ciborium.
The news spread throughout the area and many men showed up to help with the rescue. They
worked all night and, finally, with the first light of day, the ciboria appeared. But... it was empty!
The three Forms it contained had been lost. The desolation of Alboraya was indescribable. Acts of
reparation and honor to the Eucharist were immediately organized.
It was then that the Lord responded to them with a great Miracle that was witnessed by a
hundred chronicles. In the light of dawn, where the torrent empties into the sea, all the residents of
Alboraya could see how three fish stood erect above the current, each one holding a consecrated
Host in its half-open mouth. Those devotees fell to their knees, while someone ran to tell the priest
that portent. The three fish remained motionless in the middle of the current until the priest, dressed
in sacred ornaments, approached the bank.
While everyone sang to the Lord, the three fish placed the three Forms in the hands of the
priest. A procession followed to transport the Blessed Sacrament to the town church.
The ciborium of the miracle is still preserved today as a perpetual reminder of the miracle. The
following words have been engraved on it: "Who will deny the Mystery of this Bread, when a mute
fish preaches the faith to us?"
Celebrant:
Now that we have experienced the presence of Jesus, let us lay our needs and the needs of the
world at his feet.
We will sing our response:
Aaamen, Aaamen, Aamen, anen, amen,
