Trader Joe’s chose to have all it’s operations decentralized. This allows the company to service various
demands from their consumers to satisfy their needs. each store is considered as an individual
business so that the decisions being made fall upon the local store management. it's ultimately up to
them to make decisions on what they consider to be best practice for the business.
What activities does Trader Joe’s conduct related to marketing & sales?
Trader Joe's has approximately 420 stores in more than 400 locations across the United States. the
location of these stores are primarily in suburban locations with a focus to sell comparatively lower
than its competitors that are major supermarkets.

When it comes to procurement 80% of Trader Joe's products are made from its own private label
because of this they are essentially cutting out the middleman in the supply chain that drive up costs.

Trader Joe's does not have a focus on technology they want to lead with human interaction by
providing great customer service and having their employees talk to customers about products as

Because each trader Joe store operates individually there are company hierarchy is very different than
most traditional companies. when it comes to HR management and HR specific issues, they're dealt
with by local management and they make decisions On what they believe well benefit not only the
employee but the company as well.

Trader Joe's parent company is TAC T holding Inc who is parented by ALDI Nord. a lot of people
thought that Trader Joe's and aldi's were owned by the same company however they're essentially
more like cousin companies. Their core values are integrity, product-driven company, QoW customer
service, no bureaucracy, kaizen (Japanese word that means self improvement), and the store is the
brand.
What strategy has Trader Joe’s chosen to pursue? Why?
Trader Joe's decentralization of power in their whole company is what allows them to be so
successful. because each store is treated as an individual business the store head has all the power to
make decisions regarding the store.
