I/ Introduction:

1. Total Quality Management:


1.1. What is TQM?
A comprehensive, organization-wide effort to improve the quality of products and
services, applicable to all organizations.
With the impact of the 4.0 revolution, companies all apply the overall model of
quality management -TQM. Although the steps and approaches are different, the
organizations all have a common purpose. It is about maximizing resources through
hedging risks and doing the right things right.
Some definitions that are accepted in various organizations:
“Quality is customer satisfaction,”
“Quality is Fitness for Use.”

1.2. The importance of TQM to Vinfast:


 Keeping up with the current general trend that businesses all apply the TQM
model to their organizations.
 In particular, Vinfast's vehicle manufacturing industry is unique. Therefore, it
is necessary to integrate the TQM model into the enterprise.
 Get many benefits from applying the TQM model such as saving resources,
and time, reducing risks, and improving the quality of products, systems, and
services.

2. Overall of Vinsfast:
2.1. The development history of Vinfast:
Vinfast is a Vietnamese car manufacturing company established in 2017. However,
Vinfast has a very notable history of development.
-In 2017, Vingroup, a multi-sector business conglomerate in Vietnam, decided to
invest in the car manufacturing industry with the Vinfast brand. In less than two
years, Vinfast made a splash by introducing two car models at the 2018 Paris Motor

Show: a sedan (LUX A2.0) and an SUV (LUX SA2.0). This attracted the attention
of consumers and experts in the automotive industry.
-In 2019, Vinfast began producing its first car models at the manufacturing plant in
the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai industrial zone, Hai Phong, Vietnam. The first car models,
including the LUX A2.0 sedan and LUX SA2.0 SUV, were mass-produced and sold
domestically.
-In 2020, Vinfast continued to enter the international market by introducing two
car models at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, including the electric cars VF e34 and
VF e35.
-In addition, Vinfast has also collaborated with major car companies such as BMW
and General Motors to develop new products and technologies. Vinfast has also
participated in projects related to self-driving cars and electric vehicles,
demonstrating efforts to become a global car manufacturer. The overview of
Vinfast's history shows the company's rapid development in the automotive industry.
Vinfast has gained attention and made an impression with high-quality products and
advanced technology.
-Overall, the name VINFAST focuses on the core values of the brand, bringing
pride in Vietnamese origin and setting high standards for product quality and
advancement.

2.2. The vision and mission of Vinfast:


Vinfast's strategic vision is to become one of the leading automotive brands in the
world, while also building a comprehensive automotive industry ecosystem in
Vietnam. Vinfast not only focuses on producing cars but also invests in research and
development of technology, design, and services, to meet the needs of domestic and
international customers.

VinFast's mission includes the following key elements:

2.3. The core values of Vinfast:

• Environment: VinFast is committed to sustainable production and business


activities, respecting the environment and minimizing negative impacts on
the environment. The company has implemented many solutions to reduce
emissions and energy consumption in automobile production, as well as
developing electric and hybrid car products to reduce automobile
emissions.
• Community: VinFast regularly contributes to social and charitable
activities, supports the community, and improves people's quality of life.
The company has organized many programs to support children, the
elderly, the poor, and those in need.
• Economy: VinFast has created thousands of new jobs for Vietnamese
workers, contributing to the country's economic development. In addition,
the company also plans to expand automobile production and export to
international markets, thereby helping economic growth and enhancing
Vietnam's position in the international market.
• Technology: VinFast is becoming one of the companies that invest the
most in technology and artificial intelligence in Vietnam. The company
established VinAI Research and Development Institute, to develop
artificial intelligence solutions and applications in various fields, from
healthcare to education and business.
• Strengthening Vietnam's international position: VinFast is a new car brand
but has quickly generated attention and positive reviews from experts in
the world auto industry. This brand has helped enhance Vietnam's position
and reputation in the international market.
• Creativity and innovation: VinFast not only offers new and high-class
automobile products but also has many creativity and innovations in the
production process and product marketing. The company has carried out
many research and development projects to improve high productivity and
product quality.
• Advertising the amazing brand of Vietnam's automobile in the
international market.
-International auto shows: VinFast regularly participates in
international auto shows such as Paris Motor Show, Geneva Motor Show,

and Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce its products and brands to
international customers.

3. The theory of total quality management:


3.1. The basic concepts of total quality management related to
the research content of Vinfast.
Before understanding and approaching a business problem from identifying the
cause of the problem and proposing a solution, we need to understand a few basic
definitions.
3.1.1. What is TQM?
A comprehensive, organization-wide effort to improve the quality of products and
services, applicable to all organizations.
3.1.2. What is a customer?
Anyone who is impacted by the product or process delivered by an organization.
External customer: The end user as well as intermediate processors. Other external
customers may not be purchasers but may have some connection with the product.
Internal customer: Other divisions of the company that receive the processed
product.
3.1.3. What is quality?
Quality starts with understanding customer needs and ends when those needs are
satisfied.
Importance of quality with competitiveness and customers:
When organizations apply the TQM model in the processes of the company, they
will have benefits arranged by factors below:
1. Getting customer loyalty by identifying their needs
2. Achieving a reputation of excellence by getting the satisfaction of
customers
3. Delighting the customers by consistently meeting customer's requirement
4. Building quality by meeting customer requirements.

Quality in all functions:

• All members of an organization need to work together
• The cooperation of everyone at every interface
• Top management is really committed.

3.2. State the theoretical content to form scientific hypotheses


related to the issues that the research group is researching.
After discussion with other members, the group proposed 5 concepts that are related
to the total quality management process of the company. These concepts and
definitions make our team get more clarity about the quality management process of
Vinfast. Definitions like large steps in Vinfast's quality management.
3.2.1. Managing quality – The first principle:
Organizations should assess how much time spend doing the right things right.

Quality assurance is operated through planned and systematic activities to prevent
of quality problems.
Quality assurance is established for a good quality management system that
integrates the assessment and audit through the operation and review of the system.
Quality assurance is adopted for outputs of the enterprise's process – Customers.

Quality control is the activities and techniques to achieve or maintain the quality of
products and services.
Quality control is monitoring activities to find and eliminate the cause of quality
problems.
Quality control is adopted for the inputs of the enterprise’s process – Suppliers.

3.2.4 Key elements of TQM in the EFQM Excellence Model:
Leadership: Top management vision, planning and support
Employee involvement: All employees assume responsibility for inspecting the
quality of their work.
Product/Process Excellence:
Involves product design quality and monitoring the process for continuous
improvement.
Poka-yokes (Mistake proofing) are devices that prevent defects from being
produced.

Continuous Improvement: A concept that recognizes that quality improvement is
a journey with no end and that there is a need for continually looking for new
approaches for improving quality.
Customer Focus: customer and market knowledge, customer relationships and
satisfaction.
Design quality: Specific characteristics of a product that determine its value in the
marketplace.
Conformance quality: The degree to which a product meets its design
specifications.
Successful Implementation of TQM
Requires total integration of TQM into day-to-day operations.
3.2.5. Implementation of TQM:

The key elements of TQM can be divided into four groups according to their
function:
Foundation: Integrity, Ethics, Trust
Building Bricks: Leadership, Teamwork , Training
Roof: Recognition (Motivation)

1. How has Vinfast applied total quality

1.1. Managing quality of Vinfast:

the same time build a comprehensive auto industry ecosystem in Vietnam. They

- Clearly define the customer segment through the advantages of domestic products
and the support of domestic people and overseas Vietnamese.
-Positioning product segments with low, mid, and high prices
-Focus on developing product quality with a strict monitoring process. Focus on
safety by developing a touch technology system.
- Adapting to the trend, developing electric vehicles in all segments to adapt to the
current trend of green technology.
Because of determining the right strategy from the beginning and implementing it in
the right direction, Vinfast has achieved many successes such as expanding markets
to Europe, America, and China, despite being a new brand in the industry.

1.2. Output – input model of Vinfast:


The company has a range of models with different features and specifications, but
in general, the output-input model of VinFast can be summarized as follows:
Input: The input for VinFast's output-input model is the design and engineering
specifications for their vehicles. This includes factors such as the desired
performance, fuel efficiency, safety features, and aesthetics.
Process: VinFast's engineering team takes the input specifications and works on the
design and development of the vehicle. This involves selecting the appropriate
materials, creating computer-aided design (CAD) models, and performing various
simulations and tests to ensure that the vehicle meets the desired performance and
safety standards.
