Worksheet No.1 (Submission – 24.05.2024)
1. A concave mirror has a focal length of 10 cm. What is its radius of curvature?
2. An object is placed at a distance of 5 cm from a convex mirror, of focal length 7 cm. Calculate positions of
image and its nature.
3. An object is placed at a distance of 24 cm from a concave mirror of radius of curvature 24 cm. Where will the
image be formed? What will be the magnification produced?
4. An object of height 1.5 cm is placed 45 cm away from a concave mirror of focal length 18 cm. Calculate
positions of image and its size.
5. An object is placed in front of a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm. Where a screen should be placed to
obtain an image double the size of object?
6. A convex mirror forms a virtual image at a distance of 4 cm from the mirror when the object is placed12 cm
away from the mirror in front of it. Calculate its focal length.
7. A concave mirror has a focal length of 16 cm. An object of height 1.0 cm is placed at a distance of 10 cm from
it in front of it. Calculate the size and distance of image formed.
8. A concave mirror forms the image at a distance of 25 cm of an object which is at 10 cm away from it. Calculate
its focal length.
9. A concave mirror of focal length 12 cm forms doubles the image of an object. Find out two positions of object
when such a thing is possible.
10. An object 2 cm tall is placed 5 cm from a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm. Draw an accurate ray diagram
(to scale) to show the formation of image and from this diagram find out the position, magnification and
nature of the image .
11. An object 2.5 cm tall is placed at a distance of 15 cm from a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm. By means
of an accurate ray diagram, determine the position, size and nature of image formed.
12. Find the size, nature and position of image formed when an object of size 1 cm is placed at a distance of 15
cm from a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm.
13. An object 2cm high is placed at a distance of 16 cm from a concave mirror which produces a real image 3 cm
high. What is the focal length of the mirror? Find the position of the image.
14. An object 5 cm high is placed at a distance of 10 cm form a convex mirror of radius of curvature 30 cm. Find
the nature, position and size of the image.
15. If an object of height 4 cm is placed at distance of 12 cm from a concave mirror having focal length 24 cm,
find the position, nature and the height of the image.
16. An object is place in front of a concave mirror of focal length 20 cm. The image formed is three times the size
of the object. Calculate the two possible distances of the object form the mirror?
17. The image formed by a convex mirror of focal length 30 cm is a quarter of the object. Calculate position of
the image and its magnification.
18. When an object is placed at a distance of 60 cm from a convex spherical mirror, the magnification produced
is ½. Where the object should be placed to get a magnification of 1/3?
19. An image of a candle on a screen is found to be doubled its size. When the candle is shifted by a distance of
5 cm, then the image becomes triple its size. Find the nature and radius of curvature of the mirror.
20. The distance between a real object and its image in a convex mirror of focal length 12 cm is 32 cm. Find the
size of image if the object size is 1 cm.
