DOON OXFORD SCHOOL

Senior Secondary School, Affiliated to C.B.S.E. – 1631109

Dear Parents and Students,

Summer vacation is around the corner, bringing with itself a much-needed respitefrom hectic
school days. We hope that you will thoroughly enjoy the vacations and make the most of this
summer. While it is indeed important that you relax and refresh yourselves, it is also important that
you exercise your minds.
Keeping this in mind, we have designed various exciting activities to keep the students
engaged and active during the summer vacation. These fun projects/ assignments would enhance
learning skills, help understand concepts better, and make for a great crash course aimed at
improving academic output.
These activities will not only help you to revise what was taught, but will also enrich your
knowledge. These projects will be assessed as Subject Enrichment Activity, Portfolio or Art
Integrated activity. We encourage parents to motivate and support the students to ensure the given
work is completed in time, to the best of their ability. Your support and encouragement both have
a huge impact on your child’s learning ability.

The Holiday Home Work is to be done neatly with relevance to the questions asked and to be
submitted to the subject teachers within a week of reopening of the school i.e. 1ST JULY, 24.
Homework submitted late will invite negative marking. It is important that deadlines are met.

Wishing you a fun filled, safe Summer Vacation.

HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK Conversation
Dear Parents,
Different types of languages are spoken by people from different regions, but the most important thing is
that any language when spoken should be spoken correctly. The two common languages that our children
should be able to speak fluently are Hindi and English. Since English is a universal language spoken and
understood by people all over the world, we want our children also to be proficient in speaking it and for this
we need full support and cooperation. We would appreciate if you adhere to the following points:
• Speak with your child in English. Encourage reading habits.
• Read out story-books and after finishing the story discuss it with your child.
• Encourage Word Building and Picture Talk.
• Children can be encouraged to use simple words and sentences at home also. For example –
• Mummy, can I help you in the kitchen?
• Mummy, can I lay the table today?
• Mummy, can I help you wash the dishes today?
• Papa, can I help you wash the car?
• Grandpa, should I come with you for a walk?
• Grandma, should I help you put the thread in the needle?
• Mummy, can I get you a glass of water?
• Mummy, may I take some more Ice-Cream from the fridge?
• Papa, please teach me how to ride a bicycle.
• Mummy, can I help you wash and soak the rice?
• Mummy, should I cut the salad today?
• Mummy, I will make a cup of tea for you. Please tell me where are the tea leaves.
• Mummy, can you teach me to make cold coffee please?
• Papa, can you help me find my English note book?
• Papa, can we go cycling together today?
• Wishing people properly - Hello Uncle / Aunty how are you?
• Wishing parents and elders Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night.
• If we, as teachers and parents make a sincere effort and pay attention to the above mentioned points, we can
help our children to learn, to understand and speak English at an early age.
