of Turkey upon arrival at a port of entry.

IMPORTANT NOTE. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
Information on visas allowing the holders to reside in Turkey less than 90 days:
If you are planning to leave Turkey before your visa expires, no further action is necessary.
If you are planning to stay in Turkey for a longer period than your current visa entitles you to,
you must apply to the relevant authorities for a residence permit before your visa expires.
Otherwise, you will be liable to pay a fine.
Information on visas allowing the holders to reside in Turkey more than 90 days:
If the duration of stay on the current visa is more than 90 days, you must apply to the relevant
authorities (Directorate of Security in the City you reside- İl Emniyet Müdürlüğü) for a
residence permit within 90 days following your arrival in Turkey.
Information on work and student visas:
If you have a work visa or a student visa, you must apply to the relevant authorities for a
residence permit within 30 days following your arrival in Turkey.
The Law on “The Work Permits of Foreigners” numbered 4817 regulates the foreigners’ work
permits.
Where to and How to Apply:
Please consult the foreigners section of the security directorate (İl Emniyet Müdürlüğü,
Yabancılar Şubesi) in the city that you reside for the most up-to-date information.
BEFORE LEAVING THE CONSULATE
Please check your visa. Make sure that you are issued the correct visa, and your passport and
identity details on the visa are true to the passport.
If you have any accompanying children on your passport and they are to travel with you, please
make sure that they are duly endorsed below the visa. A visa is normally issued for the
passport holder and valid for one person only unless stated otherwise.

Important Note on Enquiries: Visa enquiries and follow-up of the visa applications can
be done over telephone only between 12h00 and 14h00. Applicants should contact
first with their Travel Agencies, Visa Shops or Courier Companies, if they applied
through them, to learn the date and number of the collection slips issued by the
Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Pretoria.
