As North Eastern Mindanao State University- Bislig aims to provide competitive-

competent students, it also seeks to create improvements in the campus desiring to unleash
the greater potential the students could attain.
According to (DPTA 2019) There are a large number of colleges and universities, and the
tasks of assigning jobs in the dormitory are large. How to meet the diverse needs of students
for the allocation of the dormitory is a subject worth studying? To meet the individual needs of
students, a deep learning model is first constructed, and the collected data is analyzed and
transformed in the model. Secondly, the Pearson coefficient is used to determine the similarity
between students, and the student recommendation list is constructed. Finally, the
experimental data is used. Verification, the proposed model can effectively improve the
accuracy of students’ personalized recommendations.

Students of North Eastern Mindanao State University- Bislig face various challenges in
off-campus housing. These challenges include high rental costs, inadequate housing conditions,
long distances from the university, lack of security, and unhygienic surroundings. Students often
have to deal with issues such as epileptic power supply, delays in commuting to and from
school, and insecurity.
According to Library Philosophy and Practice (2021), being non-local and living in
a dormitory can be considered as the most important factor of academics... Lack of interest and
motivation is the main educational problem.
One major problem that students in a dormitory on campus may face is the lack of
privacy and noise disturbances, which can significantly impact their academic performance and
overall well-being.
According to a study conducted by Kwon, Yoon, and Ham in 2018, titled "The Impact of
Dormitory Living on College Students' Academic Performance," noise disturbances and lack of
privacy were identified as significant factors affecting students' ability to concentrate and study
effectively in dormitory environments. This research sheds light on the challenges that students
encounter in maintaining a conducive learning environment within dormitory settings.
According to International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (2022),
Student dormitory and institutions such as dormitories in the social welfare system represent
the educational contexts in which certain groups of young people find themselves. In the
education crisis of the modern society, it is necessary to empower young people to be
autonomous and participative members of the society.
Dormitory living for students at the NEMSU BISLIG school is not merely a matter of
accommodation; it serves as a pivotal aspect of their academic journey. Away from the
comforts of home, dormitories become more than just living spaces; they become
environments where students forge memories, friendships, and experiences that shape their
educational trajectory.

According to Gonyea (2018), Khan and Hamad (2020), and Rafique (2021), dormitory life
influences academic performance, personal development, and overall well-being. As students
navigate through their educational pursuits, the support and environment provided by
dormitories play a crucial role in fostering motivation, engagement, and success. By addressing
the quality and effectiveness of dormitory living, we not only enhance the academic experience
but also empower students to thrive in their educational endeavors, ultimately contributing to
their personal and professional growth.

As penned by Dr. Amanda Lopez in 2023, the proposal for establishing a dormitory
at NEMSU Bislig underscores the pivotal role such a facility could play in transforming the
student experience. With a dedicated space for residence, students can immerse
themselves fully in their academic pursuits, free from the distractions of commuting and
external responsibilities.
Moreover, fostering a vibrant residential community fosters peer support networks,
collaborative learning environments, and a sense of belonging essential for holistic student
development. Building upon this notion, Dr. Lopez emphasizes the potential impact of the
dormitory in promoting academic excellence and student well-being. By offering access to
tailored support services, recreational facilities, and extracurricular activities, the
dormitory becomes more than a mere residence; it becomes a hub for intellectual and
personal growth. Through this lens, the establishment of a dormitory emerges not only as a
practical solution to housing needs but as a strategic investment in the future success and
fulfillment of North Eastern Mindanao State University Bislig's student body.

The Studies on how the physical environment affects students' sense of community
and social interaction may be found in the relevant literature about dorms. Students'
overall residential satisfaction and personal academic improvement are improved by
fostering social contact and creating a feeling of community.
To fit students' complicated activities into constrained areas, multifunctional furniture
design is also required in dorm rooms. Another significant component of campus culture
that shapes undergraduates' beliefs, psyches, and behaviors is the culture of the residence
halls. Dormitory culture creation can serve a variety of purposes, including psychological
shaping, moral education, normalization and restraint, and unique education.

Dormitories serve as vital residential spaces for students, offering a unique

environment conducive to academic and personal growth.

According to Banks (2018), dormitories are communal living spaces provided by

educational institutions to accommodate students' housing needs. These facilities typically
include individual rooms or shared quarters equipped with basic amenities such as beds, desks,
and storage units.
In their study, Brown and Smith (2016) emphasize the importance of dormitories in
fostering social connections among students. They argue that living nearby encourages
interaction, collaboration, and the formation of lasting friendships. Moreover, dormitories often
host various social and extracurricular activities, further enriching students' college
experiences.

From a psychological perspective, Johnson et al. (2020) discuss how dormitory living
contributes to students' personal development and independence. They suggest that navigating
shared living spaces and managing interpersonal relationships within dormitories can enhance
resilience, adaptability, and interpersonal skills.

However, dormitory life also presents challenges. Smith and Johnson (2019) highlight
issues such as noise disturbances, conflicts over shared spaces, and homesickness as common
concerns among dormitory residents. Institutions must address these challenges by
implementing effective communication strategies, conflict resolution mechanisms, and mental
health support services.

One advantage of having a dormitory in a university is fostering a sense of community

and belonging among students. Research by Astin (2018) highlights that living on campus
promotes social interaction, peer support, and involvement in campus activities, which are
crucial for academic success and overall well-being. Additionally, proximity to campus resources
such as libraries, academic advisors, and extracurricular facilities can enhance students' overall
collegiate experience.

In summary, dormitories play a crucial role in the collegiate experience, offering

students a supportive environment for academic and personal growth. While they present
opportunities for social interaction and skill development, they also pose challenges that
require thoughtful management and support from educational institutions.

This study aims to;

To identify the number of students who are living away from the school.
To identify the number of students who are still living in a boarding house.
To identify the number of students who are still commuting from home to school and
vice versa.

TIME:
This research will be conducted for at least 1 month. It was conducted in March 2024 and
the analysis, findings, recommendations, and review were made after data collection.
