1 Overview
1.1 General
Authorization groups:
Individual functions can be barred according to user group.
The user interface screens can be operated using the mouse or just the keyboard.
Keyboard operations
Key Effect
TAB Jumps to next field in screen, including buttons at bottom
HOME Jumps to next field in screen, ignoring buttons at bottom
F1-Fxx The buttons at the bottom can be activated using function keys F1 to Fxx.
R1-Rxx Depending on whether a PC or a panel is being used, the buttons on the right are activated
using the right-hand function keys or “Shift + bottom function keys”.
Zooming:
The screen size is variable. Tables and lists are adapted to the current screen size.
Notes:
• The ‘Print’ function is only available if at least one local or network printer has been set up on the
computer.
• The Excel export file is created in ‘csv’ format (Comma Separated Values), which can be viewed
using any text editor.
If Microsoft Excel is installed, Excel can be started by double clicking on the file. The data will then
be displayed in an Excel spreadsheet.
All references to the meaning of the left and right mouse button relate to the standard right-handed mouse
settings, as stored in the Windows control panel. If left-handed mouse button settings have been made,
please take this into consideration when performing the described operations.
A help system is available in the MDA applications for providing assistance in the individual work phases.
It is activated by pressing function key F1 in the top row of keys on the keyboard.
The help is context sensitive, i.e. the help information that appears relates to the screen that is currently
being displayed. The first thing that appears when the help system is activated by pressing F1 is a
description of the current screen.
Clicking the mouse on terms that are displayed in green brings up the relevant help topic, and clicking on
the Back button returns you to the previous help topic. The Back button can be found at the top edge of
the window below the menu bar.
The OEE indicators are calculated using the external “OEECalculate” program.
The calculation of the OEE indicators can be adapted in a project-specific way in this program. The
description in this chapter relates to the version of the “OEECalculate” program that is supplied as
standard in MDA.
The customized utilization time and time types are ignored in this case.
Note: the planned utilization time for free shifts and maintenance shifts is 0 with “Shift”
compression.
- ‘Current’ period
TTARG = Total duration of all customized statuses
In this case the times in the “DAUER_SEK” column are totaled in the reports for all statuses
that were marked in the “Planned utilization time” column when the OEE indicators were
planned.
The time type customization is ignored in this case.
In this case the times in the “DAUER_SEK” column in the “TAGESSUMME” tables are totaled for
the statuses that were marked in the “Planned utilization time” column when the OEE indicators
were customized.
Quantity calculations:
If BDE Acquisition (WITH_BDE_ACQUISITION = 1) is being used, the part type quantities in the
BDE_SCHICHTSUMME”, “BDE_TAGESSUMME”, ... tables are totaled.
The total quantity is calculated from the sum total of the “DE_DELTA_A_S“, “DE_DELTA_B_S“
and “DE_DELTA_C_S“ columns.
The scrap quantity is taken from the “DE_DELTA_B_S“ column.
• If BDE Acquisition (WITH_BDE_ACQUISITION = 0) is not being used, the machine/unit
quantities in the “SCHICHTSUMME“, “TAGESSUMME“, ... tables are totaled.
The total quantity is calculated from the sum total of the “DE_VAL_A”, “DE_VAL_B“ and
“DE_VAL_C“ columns for all statuses in the period.
The scrap quantity is taken from the “DE_VAL_B“ column.
Notes:
If the planned utilization time TTARG is equal to the technical fault time TPROB, the output is set to ‘0’.
If the planned utilization time TTARG = 0, this period is not displayed (e.g. free shifts, maintenance
shifts).
! You can switch to the individual screens in the program using the buttons at the bottom and right-
hand edges of the screen.
Alternatively the user interface can be customized to have a toolbar instead of the buttons at the bottom
and right-hand edges of the screen, which can be used to operate the program.
The functions that are available depend on the authorization group that has been assigned to the current
user name.
! The ‘Login’ screen can be selected in the main screen in order to change the user name.
If all functions are available, the menu bar consists of the following menus:
• File
• Evaluations
• Options
• Help
There are buttons at the bottom and right-hand edges of the window. The individual buttons are described
in more detail by a help text in the message line when the cursor is positioned over the respective buttons
using the mouse or the Tab key. This help text explains which actions are triggered by the buttons.
Note
For meaningful operation of the user interface the bottom and right-hand buttons should always be
enabled or disabled together using the customizing facility.
Toolbar
In addition (or as an alternative) to the buttons at the bottom and right-hand edges the customizing facility
(Customizing (User) > General parameters > GUI_PDE > WITH_TOOLBAR) can be used to display a
toolbar below the menu bar, from which the screens can be selected and operated.

• Definition: the stored filter (e.g. ‘*’, the post-installation presetting).
Screen Operations:
On the screen you can:
! Select an evaluation group using combo boxes,
! Specify a time type and a period and

The part type statistics can be evaluated in various stages of compression:
• ‘Shift’ - Compression for shifts
The shift totals are evaluated for the quantities.
The total quantities per part type and machine/unit are stored for each shift.
The number of shifts in the shift compression is defined using the customizing option.
The days and the shift numbers have separate “from” - “to” ranges.
Example:
If shift number “2” has been entered in “from” and shift number “4” in “to”, shifts 2, 3 and 4
will be evaluated for each day in the specified period.
Note:
The shift evaluation is only available if the plant schedule is being used
• ‘Day’ - Compression for days
The daily totals are used for the quantities.
The total quantities per part type and per machine/unit are stored for each day.
The number of days in the day compression is defined using the customizing option.
• ‘Week’ - Compression for weeks
The weekly totals are used for the quantities.
The total quantities per part type and per machine/unit are stored for each week.
The number of weeks in the week compression is defined using the customizing option.
• ‘Month’ - Compression for months

5 Glossary
User Group
The user group determines which screens and functions are available.
User groups are managed using the customizing user interface.
The user group can be changed on the login screen.
Hardcopy
Printout of current screen content. Can be activated using a configurable function key.
Main Screen
Screen from which other screens can be accessed.
Message Line
The message line can be found at the bottom edge of the screen.
The background color indicates the type of message:
Green - Information
Yellow - Operating errors, warnings
Red - System errors, serious errors. Further information can be found in the system logbook in most
cases.
Menu bar
The menu bar can be found at the top edge of the window and provides user interface functions.
Customizing
All settings are stored in a customizing database and can be modified using the customizing facility.
Button
Buttons are displayed in the bottom line and at the right-hand edge of the screens. They can be activated
using the function keys, the mouse or the Tab and Enter keys.
