Comparison test: Between Design Cad Drawing & Component profile

1. The design drawing should be in dxf format and scale has to be 1:1.
2. Import design drawing softcopy file.

a. Click on Import CAD button , in cad menu bar and file location window will open as
shown below;

b. Then select file from the location and click on “Open” button.
3. Check in graphics window, whether file is imported properly or not? If the drawing cad version and your cad
software version are not same, or design drawing is having poly lines then it will not open in graphics
window.
4. If there is mismatch in drawing versions: it will not open in autocad and gives error message as shown below;
5. Then ask customer open the design drawing in their system and save as file type as required by us, is as
shown below;

6. If the drawing is having polylines, then open the drawing in autocad and explode the drawing to individual
entity form, is as shown below
a. Open drawing in auto cad
b. In command text type “ Explode” , then press enter button in key board
c. Then it ask for “Select object”, select object by clicking mouse point at right bottom and drag it to
left top and release the mouse button.
d. Then Press Enter button in key-board.
e. Then click on any arc/line, it should be select individually, if not, again explode it once again.
f. Then click on any entity, it will select individual entity.
g. Then save this profile in dxf format with new name.
7. Now import the edited design drawing in Rapid-I and do the alignment.
8. The alignment procedure is as below;

a. Click on “2 point” button in dxf menu tool bar.


b. Select two reference points on imported drawing in graphics window.
c. Then select same points in same sequence on component image in video screen.
d. Then the drawing will match to component automatically.

e. If there still mis alignment in drawing on component image, then use nudge and rotate

tools in dxf menu tool-bar for fine tuning the alignment to component image.
f. For aligning drawing in XY axes position click on nudge tool, then nudge window will open to enter
the step value for movement as shown below;

g. In text box enter the nudge value and then press arrow keys in key-board for moving drawing in XY
axes position.
h. For changing orientation, click on rotate tool in dxf menu tool bar and then rotate window will open
to enter the orientation value in minutes as shown below;

i. In text box enter the orientation value in minutes and then select one of the two reference point as
pivot point to rotate the drawing along with selected pivot point by pressing up/down arrow keys in
key-board.
9. After alignment done. Check for deviation between actual design drawing to manufactured component
profile is as below;

a. Select “digital micrometer” tool in measure menu.


b. Then click on drawing profile and drag the mouse till component edge and you will get deviation
value, as shown in below picture (Image)
c. Add comments on image by using text (as mentioned “Abc”) in fixed graphics menu window, then
we can change colour of the font and increase or decrease font size by using mouse right click on
video screen and scroll mouse.

d. Then click on “save frame with graphics” tool in tool bar menu to save the component image with
deviation measured is as shown in below picture.
