NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.

REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

AIRBUS received reports from airline that experienced Datalink ECAM Warnings (E/W) and VHF3 Fault
messages: COM VHF3 DATALINK FAULT and/or DATALINK ATC FAULT can randomly be triggered.

These ECAM WARNINGS can be linked to the Fault message: VDR3 (FIN 1RC3)/ATSU1 (FIN 1TX1)
and/or VHF3 (FIN 1RC3).

A new VHF RTA-44D has been introduced for VDL2 improvements, including the internal Qc Fault fix
Roadmap/Schedule.

This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of the issue of HONEYWELL Service Bulletin
No. 064-50000-23-06.

This Service Bulletin recommends replacing FINs 1RC1, 1RC2 and 1RC3 (FIN 1RC3 impacted if MOD
No. 26202P4722 is applied) HONEYWELL VDR transceivers PN 064-50000-2051 (installed through
MOD No. 31817P7018) by HONEYWELL VDR RTA-44D transceivers PN 064-50000-2052.

The accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will improve:

- Qc fault messages inhibition,

- VDL 2 function improvement,

- Reduction of uplink data messages not received by VDR,

B. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS

Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin requires the prior or simultaneous accomplishment of

the following Service Bulletin(s):

Service Bulletin No. A320-23-1285

NOTE: Service Bulletin No. A320-23-1285 (COMMUNICATIONS - VHF SYSTEM -

INSTALL HONEYWELL VHF DATA RADIO (VDR) CAPABLE OF VDL MODE
2) applies MOD No. 31817P7018.

C. REASON

(1) History

AIRBUS received reports from airline that experienced Datalink ECAM Warnings (E/W)
and VHF3 Fault messages: COM VHF3 DATALINK FAULT and/or DATALINK ATC
FAULT can randomly be triggered.

These ECAM WARNINGS can be linked to the Fault message: VDR3 (FIN
1RC3)/ATSU1 (FIN 1TX1) and/or VHF3 (FIN 1RC3).

A new VHF RTA-44D has been introduced for VDL2 improvements, including the
internal Qc Fault fix Roadmap/Schedule.

(2) Objective/Action

This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of the issue of HONEYWELL
Service Bulletin No. 064-50000-23-06.

This Service Bulletin recommends replacing FINs 1RC1, 1RC2 and 1RC3 (FIN 1RC3
impacted if MOD No. 26202P4722 is applied) HONEYWELL VDR transceivers PN
064-50000-2051 (installed through MOD No. 31817P7018) by HONEYWELL VDR
RTA-44D transceivers PN 064-50000-2052.

(3) Advantages

The accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will improve:

- Qc fault messages inhibition,

- VDL 2 function improvement,

- Reduction of uplink data messages not received by VDR,

- Overall robustness.

The new HONEYWELL VDR RTA-44D transceiver, PN 064-50000-2052 is Electro

Magnetic Interference (EMI) compatible with On-Board Mobile Telephony System
(OMTS) activation.

NOTE: To accomplish this Service Bulletin, you have three options.

To accomplish this Service Bulletin it is necessary to :

Task 231570-831-801-001: OPTION 1 - Modification of the VHF Transceivers in accordance

with VSB on Bench

(1) Remove the three VHF Transceivers (FINs 1RC1, 1RC2 and 1RC3) from the Aft
Electronics Rack 80VU

(2) Modify the three VHF Transceivers (FINs 1RC1, 1RC2 and 1RC3) in accordance
with VSB on Bench

(3) Install the three VHF Transceivers (FINs 1RC1, 1RC2 and 1RC3) in the Aft

- Aircraft electrical network de-energized

- Hydraulic systems depressurized

- Access to the cockpit and cabin is available

- All circuit breakers are in closed position

(b) Do the Job Set-up procedure as specified in the removal of the three VHF
Transceivers (FINs 1RC1, 1RC2 and 1RC3), refer to AMM Task 23-12-33-000-001.
