Applicants are hereby referred to External Advert No. 2 of May 2024 which was published in the New Vision

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
MINISTRY OF HEALTH – REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITALS
1. Post: Epidemiologist – 1 Post (Jinja RRH)
Reference: HRM 72/173/41 – MoH/RRH
Salary Scale: U4
Reports to: Senior Epidemiologist
Qualifications: MBChB or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Laboratory Science or Public
Health or Environmental Health or Community Health or Clinical
Epidemiology or equivalent from a recognized University or Institution.
Post-graduate qualification in Epidemiology or Environmental Health from a
recognized Institution.
Other Good communication and interpersonal skills and high integrity and a community
Requirements: service ethic.
Duties and a) Design guidelines and protocols for surveillance activities and
Responsibilities: epidemiological studies.
b) Implement epidemiological research protocols.
c) Participate in training and providing tools to Health Workers involved in
data collection.
d) Supervise the implementation of surveillance activities.
e) Implement operational research studies.
f) Prepare and submit periodic reports.

diseases.
h) Train health workers on epidemic preparedness, control and surveillance.

2. Post: Nursing Officer (Public Health) – 1 Post (Mubende RRH)

Reports to: Senior Nursing Officer (Public Health)
Qualifications: BSc. Degree in Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent from a recognized
University or Institution.
Diploma in Public Health Nursing from a recognized Institution.
Other Good communication, counselling and interpersonal skills.
Requirements: Should have a patient focused approach and pleasant personality.
Duties and a) Provide quality public health nursing services
Responsibilities: b) Provide technical support supervision
c) Participate in evidence-based research to improve public health nursing services
d) Manage and supervise performance of subordinate public health services staff
e) Ensure adherence to professional code of conduct and ethics in the provision of
public health nursing services
f) Conduct Primary Health Care (PHC) and health education

University or Institution.

Duties and a) Organise, manage and supervise day-to-day nursing activities in the Hospital.
Responsibilities: b) Take records and administer prescribed treatment to clients.
c) Provide nursing care activities to patients.
d) Prepare and update nursing duty roster.
e) Participate in planning and budgeting for the Hospital nursing requirements.
f) Participate in inducting, training and mentoring Nurses, Midwives in nursing
care roles.
g) Participate in Primary Health Care activities.

4. Post: Cold Chain Technician – 1 Post (Mbarara RRH)

Reports to: Biomedical Engineer
Qualifications: Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from a recognized University or
Institution.
Duties and a) Plan, install, maintain and service refrigerators and other cold chain
Responsibilities: equipment.
b) Identify and repair minor faults at site
c) Prepare and maintain an up-to-date cold chain inventory.
d) Report major faults to Assistant Engineering Officer
e) Participate in immunization programs
f) Participate in enforcement of guidelines for safe storage of vaccines and
other medicines.
g) Prepare and submit reports.
h) Adhere to professional Code of Conduct and ethics.
i) Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
