Low voltage power connections I

• ALL Interflex equipment operates with low voltage

• Some controllers and master terminals might have an optional integrated power supply (option 95 Integrated power supply in
(230VAC) or option 504 (110VAC)) an IF4735 with battery
backup.
• Option 95 and 504 can be combined with a battery backup (option 15).
• Except card readers, all controllers and (master/contact) terminals can operate on both AC and DC
• Typically controllers are powered with 18VAC-24VAC or 18VDC-30VDC.
• Typically terminals are powered with 12VAC-24VAC or 12VDC-30VDC.
• Card readers and I/O boards are powered by their parent terminal.
• Power can be supplied either centrally or locally (decentralized).
• With central power supplies please make sure that the unit has enough capacity with some 15%..20%
margin. Also avoid too much voltage drop by inappropriate cables
• Absolute controller minimum (without battery backup) is 9,7VDC and for terminals it’s typically
10,5VDC
• The IF4072 controller has a 12VDC output which can power a maximum of 2 terminals (just the
terminals, no locks)
• Even though it’s not always recommended, lock power and terminal power can be combined
• !! In case lock and terminal power is combined, make sure the lock has sufficient EMC
suppression (antiparallel diode, spike suppressor, etc.)
• !! Power shall be ‘clean’ and not fluctuate.
See for exact power specifications and consumption details the respective product manuals.

Low voltage power connections III

• Power connections are similar for all Interflex hardware.

• The terminal strips are often marked identical
▪ +AC + in case of DC, if AC, either or
▪ -DC - in case of DC, if AC, either or
▪ Ground Earth
▪ BAT Some PSU’s have a digital output to indicate that the PSU is running on battery power. This
information is sent to the host as an information event.
▪ GND/TS These two belong together. This is a digital input which can be used to connect a housing
tamper switch to. In case of activation an event is send to the host.

Low voltage power connections IF4078

• Power connections for the IF4078 are similar to all

other Interflex power connections
▪ Exception: BAT+ and BAT – are meant to connect a
backup battery
Power over Ethernet

• Interflex 4xxx and 5xxx Controllers are PoE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet) Class 3

compliant
• Important: Controllers shall never be connected to both low voltage (either via external or internal source)
and PoE at the same time
• Newer hardware has a jumper to select the power source

• Factory default is non-PoE

• Only the newer types have selection jumpers.
• The other PoE compliant controllers (e.g. 5735) don’t have a selection jumper at all
