MODULE 6: ORDER OF EVENTS
Hello Learners! Learning how to arrange events in a
story helps you understand what you are reading.
Sequencing is also important in problem-solving.
LEARNING TARGETS
This module aims for learners to:
Give correct order of three events
VOCABULARY BUILDER
Events - The things that happen in a story.
Sequence - The order in which events happen.
WARMING UP
Directions: Write the numbers 1, 2, and 3 under the
correct pictures to show the correct order or sequence.

LEARNING ABOUT IT
When you read a story, pay attention to
the order of events. What happened first? And
what happened after that? If you can figure
out the order of events, you will be able to
understand the story better.
Time-order words and phrases can help. Some
examples of time-order words and phrases
are first, then, after that, and finally:
On Saturday, I helped my uncle plant in the
garden. We turned over the soil first—that way it
was nice and loose. Then, we added some
water to the soil. After that, we planted lots of
seeds in little rows. Finally, we patted the soil
down and watered it again.

KEEPING YOU IN PRACTICE
Practice Task1
Directions: Ask a family member to read the story.
Arrange the events in order. Write numbers 1, 2 and 3
inside the box.
A. Jane likes doing things with her dad. Sometimes they
play chess or ride bikes. Today, they are watering the
garden. First, Dad takes out the water hose. Next, Jane
turns on the faucet. Dad started watering the plants. Dad
gave the sprinkler to Jane. Jane sprays water on the
plants and on Dad. He thinks it’s funny and laughs. After a
while, the garden is now fully watered.

B. It’s my turn to make Patsy’s dinner. First, I wash her big
purple bowl. I fill it with carrots and other vegetables.

“Oink, oink!” she squeals, wagging her curly tail. She
thinks her food is yummy. After she’s done with dinner, I
give Patsy apples for dessert. Pigs love apples!

time, Milo chases the ball, but he doesn’t bring it back.
This happens again and again. Sally is ready to give up.
But after some more practice, Sally throws the ball and
Milo finally brings it back. Success at last!

B. Chester and Trina made breakfast this morning. They

come home, they will cook fish, spring rolls, and more.
They can’t wait for their family to visit soon.

B. The Butterfly Spot is the most wonderful place in the
park. As soon as I walk in, I notice how hot it is. Boy,

My biggest surprise comes at the end when a bright
blue butterfly lands on my nose!

C. Amy has a new baby brother. When the baby came

playing peek-a-boo with Amy. Now, Amy is glad for
having a baby brother.
