At NIFTEM, we aim to emerge as the leading center of comprehensive


learning in the area of Food Processing, Technology & Management.
Many salient features make NIFTEM a unique place to study. A blend of
innovative concepts deliberately takes a lead here, while keeping the
conventional concept building and fundamental teaching-learning
system as a base. Most of the courses offered here are interdisciplinary
and have been streamlined to meet the requirements of the food
processing industries at large. Inclusiveness is our primary motto.

The course structure is student-centric, wherein they can understand


the finer concepts while working as a strong ground and bridge for all
the students transiting to their destinations, we commit to ourselves
and our society to leave no student behind. We firmly stand by them
throughout their journey/ voyage.

These students have been trained on all parameters of technical, soft, and
life skills in such a way that they are, in the true sense, Techno-Managers.

EVENTS IN NIFTEM

E-SUMMIT

The two-day event organized by CED, having the


theme, 'Taking Flight in Adversity,' took place on
the 23rd and 24th of April 2022. The event
allowed the students to discover their potential
through various competitions like Casecade,
Shark Mania, and Googly. Workshops conducted
by various influencers, speakers, and industry
professionals created an engaging and
productive learning platform for the students
and guests. The event was graced by Tejas Patil,
Daksh Sethi, Hardik Banga, Sushant Bindal, and
Jaspreet Singh.

NIFTEM SPORTS LEAGUE (NSL)

The intra-college sporting fest for the year 2021-


22, RANN, was conducted from 23rd May to 3rd
June aiming to encourage, support and
celebrate sports. The opening ceremony was
graced by the auspicious presence of Chief
Guest Sonam Malik, Youth Wrestler, Olympian,
and Guest of Honour Mr. Hiroshi Hamada, MD
Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. students competed
in over 10 sports, which included both outdoor
and indoor sports. The closing ceremony was

Commandant CRPF, and Mr. Neeraj Narwal, Star

CONVOCATION

The 4th Convocation Ceremony was held at Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium on 24th
June 2022. 525 students were awarded degrees in B. Tech, M. Tech, MBA, and Ph.D.
programs. The ceremony was presided over by Smt. Anita Praveen, Hon'ble Chancellor,
NIFTEM, was graced by the auspicious presence of Chief Guest Shri Pashupati Kumar
Paras, Guest of Honour Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, and Shri Dheeraj Tolaram Talreja.

WOMEN'S DAY

Celebrated International Women's Day on March 8th, 2022. The hybrid event
included several activities like racing competitions, online slogan writing
competitions, awareness and training programs, webinars, etc.

Inauguration of NIFTEM Capacity Building Centre and Makhana King ODOP Branch
Launch by Hon'ble MoS, FPI, Sh. Prahlad Singh Patel on 3rd January 2022.

Hon'ble Minister of FPI, Shri Pashupati Kumar Paras, inaugurated NIFTEM Jindal Steel
Gallery, Multi Activity Sports Stadium, A-type quarters block, Bakery Pilot Plant, and
Centre of Excellence on Food Fortification.

NIFTEM celebrated Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign through a flag competition, poem
recitation, and tiranga rally among students, faculty, and staff of the NIFTEM family.

Five Days Workshop on Dough Rheology and Baking was organized by the
Department of Food Engineering and Bakery Pilot Plant from the 4th to the 8th of July.

1. Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech)
The undergraduate programme at NIFTEM is a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Food
Technology and Management (FTM). This programme includes a rare blend of
technology and management courses, whereby the goal is to produce graduates
who are techno-managers of the future. The course is designed based on the
demand of industries so that NIFTEM graduates can handle and control not only
the technical but also the managerial issues of the food industry. B. Tech, a four-
year undergraduate degree programme offered by NIFTEM, is a blend of
technology and management with the aim to cater for the demand of the global
food industry.
Admission to this course is based on the IIT-JEE Mains Merit List.

2. Master of Technology (M. Tech)


NIFTEM offers a post-graduation degree in the given specializations:

1. Food Supply Chain Management (FSCM)


Masters in Food Supply Chain Management is a unique concept of NIFTEM with an
idea to generate a talented, resourceful, and practically oriented workforce
meeting the demands of Indian Industries. The course curriculum has been
designed to address real-time issues, which include case studies, classroom
discussions, and virtual modelling. The professionals are shaped to excel in
technical and management skills as demanded by the industries. The idea of the
program is to impart knowledge of the perishable and non-perishables supply
chain, with an emphasis on managing the losses incurred in the current scenario.

Food Safety and Quality Management is the first initiative of its kind by NIFTEM to
generate pioneering techno-managers in the field of food safety, food security,
and quality assurance. Food safety has become a critical factor that needs to be
addressed and ensured in global food markets. With India being in an infant era of
risk assessment, food biotechnology, microbiological source tracking, public

Food Process Engineering and Management (FPEM)
The programme aims to produce world-class food engineers equipped with all the
necessary tools to handle the problems of the food industry. The programme is
designed to promote the growth of the food processing industry in India in the
global context through mechanization and automation, engineering intervention
for transforming agriculture into food processing industries, and motivating
entrepreneurship to promote the food processing sector.
The curriculum brings synergy to the aims and aspirations of the food industry. The

Food Plant Operations Management (FPOM)
Food Plant Operations Management is a unique program designed to cater to the
needs of the food processing industry. It involves a unique blend of food technology
and operations management to foster improvement in the production processes
of the food industry. It deals with designing and managing products, processes,
and services. It considers the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources
that firms need to deliver the goods and services, their clients want. The purview of
Food Plant Operations Management ranges from strategic to tactical and
operational levels. Representative strategic issues include determining the size and
location of food manufacturing plants and deciding the structure of the service or
production system. Tactical issues include plant layout and structure, project
management methods, and equipment selection and replacement. Operational
issues include production scheduling and control, inventory management, quality
control, and inspection, traffic and materials handling, and equipment
maintenance policies. The students are exposed to advanced lean manufacturing
and operation-optimizing techniques. Case studies form an integral part of
learning, and 5 months of industrial training allows students to solve operational
issues in the food industry.

STAGE 1
The placement cell (CRD) sends invitations to the companies and organizations along with
all the relevant information.
STAGE 2
Interested companies may directly contact the Corporate Resource Division (CRD) to meet
their various placement requirements.
STAGE 3
A Corporate Response Sheet is made available to companies on the official website of
NIFTEM ([Link]). Interested companies may fill out the form, furnish the requisite
details (of the nature of the internship), and submit the details to CRD online account
([Link]@[Link] & [Link]@[Link]).

STAGE 4
The Corporate Resource Division (CRD) sends interested students' resumes to the
companies.

STAGE 5
Companies send the details of the shortlisted candidates to the Corporate Resource
Division.

STAGE 6
Companies can conduct a selection process that includes Personal Interviews or Group
Discussions on campus / online, and after the selection process, the companies provide the
final list to the Corporate Resource Division (CRD).

STAGE 7
Companies unable to visit the campus may select the students only based on resumes or
telephonic/Skype interviews.

NIFTEM provides its recruiters with all facilities required for carrying out their placement
interviews with ease;

Uninterrupted access to the internet/video conference/Skype.
Facilities for group discussions, interview cabins, PowerPoint presentation.
