Introduction
The monitoring system continuously watches machine systems. Information of machine condition is
displayed on monitoring panel (18). A fault alarm in the monitor panel can indicate abnormal
conditions of the machine. The following items represent some of the machine conditions that are
being monitored: engine coolant temperature, hydraulic oil temperature and fuel level. The following
indicators in the monitor panel (18) are used to monitor the machine status:
• Fuel gauge (1)
• Engine coolant temperature gauge (2)
• Hydraulic oil temperature gauge (3)
• Indicator lamp for the charging system (4)
• Indicator lamp for low engine oil pressure (5)
• Indicator lamp for engine coolant temperature (6)
• Indicator lamp for low idle (7)
• Indicator lamp for the air inlet heater (8)
• Indicator lamp for low fuel level (9)
Description of Gauges and Indicators
Power On Test
To ensure proper operation of the monitoring system, the action alarm and indicators are tested
whenever the monitor is powered up. When starter switch (14) is turned to the ON position, all of the
gauge indicators on monitor panel (18) will turn ON for approximately 2.5 seconds, and the action
alarm will sound for approximately 2.5 seconds. All gauges will sweep for approximately 2 seconds.
This is normal operation.

Fuel gauge (1) receives an input signal from fuel level sensor (10). This will indicate the amount of
fuel in the fuel tank.
Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
Engine coolant temperature gauge (2) receives an input signal from engine coolant temperature sensor
(11). This will indicate engine coolant temperature. The red range will illuminate when the engine
coolant temperature reaches 105 °C (221 °F). This indicates overheating.
Hydraulic Oil Temperature Gauge
Hydraulic oil temperature gauge (3) receives an input signal from the hydraulic oil temperature sensor
(12). This will indicate hydraulic oil temperature. When hydraulic oil temperature reaches 98 °C (208
°F) the red range will illuminate.
Indicator Lamp For The Charging System
If the charging voltage of the alternator is lower than normal battery voltage, the indicator lamp for
the charging system (4) will illuminate.
Indicator Lamp For Low Engine Oil Pressure
The indicator lamp for low engine oil pressure (5) receives the input signal from engine oil pressure
switch (13). The indicator lamp for low engine oil pressure (5) will illuminate and the action alarm
will sound when the engine oil pressure abnormally decreases.
Indicator Lamp for Engine Coolant Temperature
The alert indicator for engine coolant temperature (6) receives an input signal from engine coolant
temperature switch (11). When engine coolant temperature reaches 105 °C (221 °F) the indicator
lamp for engine coolant temperature (6) will be illuminated.
Indicator Lamp For Low Idle
The indicator lamp for low idle (7) will illuminate when the one touch low idle control (17) is
depressed and the low idle system is activated.
Indicator Lamp For The Air Inlet Heater
While the starter switch (14) is in the PREHEAT position, the indicator lamp for the air inlet heater
(8) is illuminated.
Indicator Lamp For Low Fuel Level
The indicator lamp for low fuel level (9) illuminates when the fuel level decreases too far.
