took them to visit an old castle on a hill next to the sea. They went by bus and stopped at the bottom
of the hill.
Mr Park pointed to the castle at the top of the hill and said, ‘There is no road up there so we have to
walk.’
The children were tired and thirsty when they arrived at the castle. But Mr Park had juice for all of
them. It was very interesting because Mr Park showed them all the different parts of the castle and
explained its history.
On the way down the hill, Paul’s friends said, ‘Let’s have a race.’ So Paul and his friends started to
run.
‘Stop running!’ shouted Mr Park. But the boys ran faster and faster and then Paul fell over and hurt
his leg. It wasn’t broken, but he couldn’t walk very well.
Mr Park saw a farmer on his horse in a field. He went to speak to him and the farmer let Paul ride
his big brown horse down the hill to the bus.
‘Sorry we didn’t listen to you on the hill,’ Paul said to Mr Park, ‘but we listened in the castle. It was
great! Can we come again?’

our parents. My mum said it was easier to take the train than the car. Our cousin William came to
London too, but he went by bus so we met him at Liverpool Street Station. He had a heavy
backpack with him. 'I can carry your backpack, William,' Dad said. 'No, thanks, I can
manage,' William said.
We went to the Science Museum first. I asked Dad lots of questions but he didn't know the answers.
William took a book about science out of his backpack. 'Here you are!' he said to Dad. 'Thanks,
William,' said Dad.
When we left the museum, it was very sunny. 'It's OK,' said William. 'I've got some suncream in my
backpack.'
We went to McDonald's for lunch. My sister made a mess of her food on the table. William gave
her a tissue from his backpack. 'Have this,' he said.
In the afternoon, we wanted to go to a famous toy shop but we couldn't find it. William took a map
of London out of his backpack and we soon found the street where the shop was.

Maria's starts school
My name is Pedro and my sister's name is Maria. Monday was the first day of school after the
holidays, so we got up at seven o'clock. We put our new books into our school bags and I had
breakfast. Maria couldn't eat any food because she was worried about starting school. I said, 'Don't
be afraid, Maria, you will like going to school.' Maria smiled and held my hand.
The bus came early so we had to run to catch it. On the bus, we sat down and put our school bags
on the floor. The bus started suddenly, and everything fell out of our school bags! There was a
woman behind us, and she picked up one of our books. She read Maria's name on the front of it and
then she smiled. She said, 'Hello, Maria, I'm your new teacher. My name's Mrs Lester.' We were
very surprised. Mrs Lester asked some more questions, and then in a few minutes, we arrived at
school. Mrs Lester said. 'I'll see you in class, Maria,' and Maria smiled a big smile. I asked Maria,
'Are you feeling worried now?' and she laughed and said, ' No! But there's just one problem - I'm
hungry~ Where's the school snack shop?'
