DISCOVERY D4-4L
One of two four-berth Discoverys, the
D4-4L has an offside dining area that
converts to bunks, making this model
ideal for a young family.
There’s a surprising amount of kitchen
workspace, given the compact
dimensions of the caravan. The surface
stretches 98cm to the right of the hob,
and there is a small surface to the left
of the hob; perfect for spoon rests for
cooking utensils. The generously sized
(36cm diameter) kitchen sink would make
washing up easy. Kitchen storage is
impressive, too. Beneath the oven/grill is
a handy cabinet that is 46cm high and
46cm deep.
Storage elsewhere is generous. Two
lockers are in the dining area. There are
lockers above the lounge, and, of course,
plenty of space under all four of the
seating sections.
Perhaps the most impressive element
of this tourer’s storage capability is the
wardrobe. It’s 80cm wide and contains,
alongside the rail, four large shelves.
Beneath it is a cabinet, perfectly placed
to put footwear as you step inside.
DISCOVERY D4-4
This four-berth model has a double shapes of folding chairs and more

Our expert, Lee Davey,
answers all of your
caravanning questions
Q We’d like to buy a cover to protect our caravan between trips. If I buy a
universal cover, cover sizes depend on length. Where should I take this
measurement from?
A You can buy tailor-made covers for many caravan makes and models,
but if you’re looking to buy a universal cover, measure the body length
along the bottom of the caravan — just the body itself, and don’t include the
length of the A-frame. This size should then fit with a certain cover size.
This, however, doesn’t always work, as the choices for our older 14ft (4.27m)
Bailey Maestro would be a 12ft-14ft (3.66m-4.27m) cover or a 14ft-17ft
(4.27m-5.18m) cover. Be sure to buy one that’s breathable.
Q We’ve just returned from our first trip of the year, and only
one of our TyrePal TPMS sensors appears to be working.
What would be the first thing to check?

BEST CAMPING LIGHTING
Vango Lightbeam 250 Recharge
For quick overnight trips, a couple of torches and your caravan’s own lighting will
probably be enough to meet your lighting needs. But on longer holidays, when you are
likely to spend more time in your awning after dark, you really need something a bit more
substantial to illuminate it. This newcomer from Vango, the LightBeam 250 Recharge, is an
inflatable striplight that is powerful enough to do just that. It has a lightweight and flexible
design and is fitted with two magnetic attachment points for easy set-up in your awning.
The commended Goal Zero Skylight Portable Area Light (priced about £350) is ideal for
communal camping areas, such as outdoor kitchens and dining tables, but can be used
around the house and garden, too. Also commended, the Robens Munros (£40.99) lantern
combines classic design with modern functionality for your awning.
