INFORMATION
On the 20th day of December 2020, at the Sumulong College of Arts and Sciences in
Angono City, Province of Rizal. And within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, the
above Named accused, being armed with a 9mm pistol handgun with intent to kill,
qualified by evident premeditation as the attack was contrived, did then and there,
willfully, unlawfully and feloniously attack, assault and use personal violence upon the
person of JOHN CARLO DEOCAREZA and JOMARI OLIVEROS, as follows: The
incident happened in Deocareza’s residence at around 5:13 in the afternoon, the
suspect is at his house resting, when the suspect heard a series of explosions, the
suspect went to the Deocarezas to investigate who fired the improvised cannon (boga).
When the suspect tries to arrest John Carlo Deocareza who appeared drunk his mother
Pierre Paulo Oldan interfered by wrapping her hand around his son.
After the suspect tries to arrest Deocareza, the heated argument over a right of way
and improvised cannon, Tamparong’s daughter intervened and shouted to Paula
saying “My father is a policeman!” then Jomari replied saying “I don’t
careeeeeeeeeee!”, this makes Tamparong’s shot Jomari in a close shot and
afterwards shot John Carlo “JC” Deocareza. After the shooting incident Tamparong
went immediately to his parents in Binangonan, Rizal.
At around 7:30 pm of December 20, 2020, we received a report from the police station
in Binangonan Rizal. The report was about Police Major Sergeant CJ Tamparong
surrendering himself to the office and admitted the crime of shooting mother-and-son,
Jomari Oliveros and John Carlo Deocareza in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Angono
Rizal. After acknowledging the report, we were immediately directed to summon
Tamparong from Binangonan back to Angono. Upon arriving at Mahabang Parang,
Angono, Tamparong was detained until the formal complaint was filed by the victims’
family.
Following the incident, CJ Tamparong was immediately arrested by the Philippine
National Police. The case received significant media attention, and the public
demanded justice for the victims. The legal proceedings began, and Tamparong was
charged with two counts of murder. After a thorough trial, on August 26, 2021, the
Angono court delivered its verdict. CJ Tamparong was found guilty on both counts of
murder. The court sentenced him to up to 40 years in prison, holding him accountable
for the brutal killings of Jomari Oliveros and John Carlo Deocareza. The verdict brought
a sense of justice to the grieving family and the outraged public.
On November 30, 2021, while incarcerated at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), CJ
Tamparong collapsed and died at the NBP hospital. The circumstances surrounding his
death remain unclear, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the
cause. The authorities are looking into the possibility of foul play or any other
contributing factors.
