Short description: You go onto the shoes of Owen as he struggles to

unbound himself from the chains of his past. Join him as he uncovers mysteries
of his past.

Chapter 1 :
Introduction
You wake up in a familiar room, though some things feel different. You feel light-
headed and numb. The dark and ominous atmosphere fills up the room. Darkness all
‘round, you can’t move, and only silence can be heard. Apart from a ticking clock on the
wall..Tick..Tock..Tick..Toc-BAM. The clock falls down and breaks. And there is nothing
you can do about it, than just glare at its broken state.
To your right, an open window. You can barely see a flickering lamp post outside.
It must be broken, you thought to yourself. You stare as the post flickers and flickers.
Suddenly, a strange figure appears below the post. It just stands there, waiting...for the
perfect moment.

*knock knock knock*

Honey? Are you awake yet?? You’re gonna be late for school if you don’t get
up now!

You wake up in your bedroom. The time is 7:15 am. You should
probably hurry up. Don’t want to be late now, do we? The window is open
and you can see birds chirping. To some, this is such a soothing sound to
their ears during the morning. Downstairs, Mom has prepared breakfast.
Your older brother has already left the house before you woke up.

“Jeez how many times do I have to wake you up in the morning?”

complained Mom.
“You’re getting older now, you should act your age and be responsible”

Well maybe if you cared for me much better, I wouldn’t been like this.
Maybe if YOU were better, Dad wouldn’t have left us. Voices in your head
linger and spit out these words as you continue munching on your bacon.

You hastily get ready. Pack up some things, wear half-decent

clothing and prepare yourself for school. You were too slow and you miss
the bus by a minute. You’ve decided to walk to school.

So stupid and irresponsible. How slow could you possibly be to be able to

miss the buss again? Maybe if you did better, you wouldn’t have missed the
buss.

Maybe if you did better, maybe he would have never le–

“Hey!” a recognizable voice shouts.
“What’s up Owen? Walking to school again?” asked Dain, your closest
friend, though not close enough to be called your best friend. He is in a car,
his dad is driving him to school.
“How about we go together? Come on hop in!”
“Hmm. Thanks” you reply.

You arrive at school along with Dain, right before even the school bus
arrived and before the bell rang. Quite lucky.

______________________________

Just another very uninteresting day. You are a very quiet kid in class
who occasionally talks, whose words have no real interest nor meaning. It
gets quite noisy whenever the occasional breaks in between periods. The
chatter of students, fond of each other’s presence could be heard from each
corner of the room, like a bunch of birds chirping around. Though instead
of a harmonious song being song, it was a very unpleasant noise.

“You okay?” asked Dain.

“You barely ever talk, I sometimes wonder what’s on your mind”

“A lot..” you reply. “A lot of things are on my mind”

“Like what?” he thought.
“Stuff. You wouldn’t understand though” you reply.
“Seems to me like you’re thinking about her”

Dain points to another student. A former “friend”

“I’d rather forget everything about her. Except I can’t” you tell Dain.
“I understand. Rather than forget that, I’d like things to be sorted out
and be alright to be honest.” he exclaimed.

Shortly after, the next class starts and you focus on learning today’s
lessons.

______________________________

School ends and you join Dain as you both hang around the school
grounds for a while. The ominous atmosphere of the school also hangs
around. The lack of people being here is what really made this place real
ominous. What’s scarier than seeing no people at all? The ever so slight
feeling that you are being watched.
“Heh, this place is actually enjoyable when there are no people
around” said Owen.
“Indeed. Despite the creepiness of no one being around here, it’s a
very peaceful place to hang around in” replied Dain.
You pull out a bottle of water from your bag and proceed to drink it.
You catch a glimpse out of the corner of your eye. A shadowy figure lurking
in the bushes, but you decide to ignore it and relax with the time you have.
It’s near, and its strong. Don’t ignore it.
Run while you still can.
We must get out of here.
Don’t come near it.

The voices make it hard to ignore. You flinch and drop your bottle,
spilling it over your bag. Your body shakes as shivers go up your spine, then
back down. You feel hazy and your vision gets blurry.
“Are you alright? Hey, calm down.” said Dain as he puts his hand on
your back.
“Listen to my voice. Breathe in....breathe out....breathe in....and breathe
out...”
It works and all is back to normal. These voices have been silenced for
now, but you can’t hold them in forever.
“Don’t worry. I’m fine, I’m fine. Something just seemed to overwhelm
me” you reply. “Hey, I do feel like going somewhere peaceful, though not
creepy”
“Wanna visit our old hangout?”
“The hangout?” you hesitate for a bit. “I mean...it is kinda quiet there.”
After thinking for a few seconds, you eventually agree and start
packing your things.

______________________________

The old hangout is a hidden cabin at the nearby woody forest. The
two arrive at the hangout and sit at an old bench. The moss carpeting the
bench with some scratches and small fractures makes it look like it was
about to break any second now.
The pathway that leads to the door of the cabin has been covered by
splotches of dirt and mud. A small ray of sunlight shines through the thick
foliage, shining onto the ill-forgotten cabin. An old pond nearby which once
bloomed with life from the lilies, frogs and fish is now no more. The
wretched stench from its dirty waters linger around the vicinity.
“Shall we go take a look inside?” asked Dain as he points toward the
door.
“It would be bad for me to say no, would it not?” Owen then pushes
the door to come inside.
The two were shocked by what they had found. The cabin looked in
pretty good shape, just how they remembered the last time they were here.
The walls and the floor looked surprisingly clean, the planks seemed to
have not decayed over time. A table, with some different types of stuff was
neatly organized. Its air inside was in such good quality, not what you’d
expect from a cabin which has not been touched by some humans for a long
time.
That’s what they thought. When in reality, someone or some thing has
been taking care of the place.
The backdoor opens and a gust of wind comes rushing into the room
they stood in, revealing why this place was in such great condition. T’was
their old friend—
“Owen? Dain? What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I ask the same question to you...Lumi”
Silence....silence has filled the room. They glance upon one another’s
faces. Not knowing what to say as if one’s mouth was sewed together,
unabling them to speak. And yet here it all stands, the cabin which was
untouched by their war and misunderstandings.
Lumi stands there at dismay. She holds onto her crescent shaped
necklace as he carefully chooses her next words.
“By now you’ve probably figured out. I’ve been keeping this place in
great maintenance since the last time we used to hang around here.”
She points her fingers at the two and proceeds to ask “Now what
were you doing here?”
“Decided to visit, perhaps reminisce.” Owen replies as he crosses his
arms together.
“Too bad, till you decided to ruin everything.” she said in a
disappointed voice.
His blood began to boil. He look at her, dead in the eye , about to
something. Only to realize these words had truth behind them. Like a
sword shoved right through his chest, these words hurt. He falls to the
ground and he remains in stunned silence.
“As much as I want to fucking hurt you right now–” Owen’s voice
starts to soften. “—you’re right.”
“To be honest, after Razor passed, I felt something. My heart
shattered and it was all my fault” he begins to think about his last
conversation with Razor, his best friend.
“What the hell has gotten into you? This isn’t like you!” Razor shouted
angrily.
“Maybe if you stopped hanging around that jerk, I wouldn’t have done
this. You really think he’s so much better to be friends with than me huh?”
you reply.
“Why can’t you just let me be happy. I have the free will to do
whatever I want, you don’t control me and no one else can.”
“I’d rather be with people who actually care for me, unlike you.” You
reply once more.
His eyes widened as if he saw something surprising. Like a monster, a
monster that was standing right in front of Razor. And it was you
Razor runs off into the woods, not even looking back.

And that was the last time you’ve seen him....alive.

“I wish I could have said sorry. But it’s too late now.” Owen continues
as he clenches his fists, full of regret. “After that conversation, the next time
I saw him was in this very cabin. He was sitting on that corner over there, a
lifeless corpse.” He points to the corner near the back door.
“I still feel like taking his own life was too much, it was honestly a series
of misunderstandings” Dain added. “You could’ve settled them properly,
maybe talked to each other and hopefully apologized. Too late for that I
guess.”
Lumi has a worried look on her face as they think about past times.
“Its also getting late, I’m getting out of here.” She says as she runs hastily
out.
“We should probably get going now.”
“Yeah, we really should”

You arrive home quite late. From your front yard, you can smell
something aromatic coming from your house.
Mom must be cooking dinner already.
“Where have you been this time Owen?” you get greeted by your mother
as you open the door.
“Just an old place, somewhere” you reply
“Not elaborating as always huh, just go sit at the table. Dinner’s almost
ready”
The food smells great, the taste is a different story though. Just as usual.

You immediately head over to your room after dinner. It has been a
tiring day after all.
You turn off the lights and slowly drift away.....and finally fall asleep.

______________________________

You return once again to the room. You open your eyes only to see
darkness all around once more. Pitch black and all you could hear is the
ticking clock. Despite the darkness, you see a clear image of something.
Something in front of you, staring right back at you as you glare into its
bright eyes.
The shadowy figure appears to be holding something. A book of some
sort? You are not quite sure.
It comes closer and hands you the book only for it to disappear, quietly
into the middle of the night.
You open the book and see a bunch of pictures. They are all black
however.
You put the book up closer to your face. The image has been clearer as
ever. It was pictures...of Razor’s dead body.
You throw away the book. You do not wish to see it anymore.
You start to hyperventilate. The darkness seemed to be growing more
and more. The sound of the ticking clock starts to slowly fade. The
mysterious figure shows up once more and points a finger at you.

In a horrific, demonic voice...it says

“It was your fault.”

______________________________

You wake up once more to a knocking on your bedroom door. It was

Dain.
“Owen! Wake up!” he continues to knock on your door.
You finally open up the door and he goes in. You could not tell if his face
was full of excitement nor fear.

“I found something.”
