Well Technical Documentation

First, to drill a well from the scientific point of view of hydro-geology is an important
engineering event, as it is a sounding of depths of thousands of years from the date of
Earth formation, and it is an opportunity to view the critical information and write it
down carefully to take advantage of them later in any similar work in the area concerned.
Second, The importance of the written information about the well is obvious from the
fact that it is considered the basis for any subsequent development for this well, and by
drawing a geological and hydro-geological section (profile) of the well in the drilling area
with the availability of similar profiles of other wells can draw a hydro-geological map of
the whole area, so it may serve to improve the exploitation of underground water in it.
Therefore, technical documentation that must accompany any well must include the
following information:
1- Geological section of the well showing water surface level in the well with date
and time of record.
2- Well profile with all its constituent components and installations with all the
necessary details, such as lining, strainer filter, pipes, pump and the other
mechanical installations, (With diameters and depths, and other dimensions) ...
3- Experimental results of pumping test directly after drilling, for 24 hours, 48 hours
and 72 hours.
4- Results of chemical and biological testing of water in the well with date and time
record.
5- Technical specifications of the pump by the manufacturer.
6- Technical specifications of the engine by the manufacturer.
7- Data of the periodic inspection of the well and all its components including the
pump, the engine, the lining and its components, the strainer filter, the water
levels (static and dynamic levels) recorded at all possible checking with date and
time of every record.
8- Other data of any change or development of the well occurred later and any other
remarks.
