CERTIFICTE HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION (CHPE)


leading to DIPLOMA HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION (DHPE)

1. Eligibility
a. MBBS / BDS from HEC/PMDC recognized institutions.

b. BS / MS / M.Phil. or Ph.D. in health sciences or FCPS.

2. Admission Procedure
a. Admission to the program shall be advertised.
b. The number of students admitted to the program shall be determined per
approved policy.
c. Applications on the prescribed form shall be received in the DME-FUMC.
d. Selection will be made on merit by Admission Committee chaired by
Director FUSH.
e. The DME-FUMC will inform selected candidates.

3. Registration. A student of DHPE shall be registered in the Medical Education


department of the FUMC. The admitted students' records will be maintained by the Manager
Student Affairs and forwarded to Registrar Branch.

4. Scheme of Studies.
a. The program has six courses.
b. The mode of teaching and Learning will be face-to-face and home
assignments.
c. There will be a face-to-face contact session of three-hour duration
fortnightly on alternate Fridays.
d. The assessment will be written and Objective Structured Teaching Skills
(OSTE).

5. Exit from the Program.
a. CHPE will be awarded after successful completion of the initial four
courses.
b. DHPE will be awarded after successful completion of six courses.

6. Measurement of Units of Academic Work.

Credit points = 14 Credit points = 21

7. Organization of Teaching
a. Teaching and practical works shall be conducted mainly at DME-FUMC.
b. Each student shall work under the guidance of faculty Medical Education
FUMC.
c. A task and competency-based learning approach will be used. The
activities will encourage the candidates to link educational theories with
the best evidence in medical education practice and to do self-
assessments. This will help the students to become reflective, self-
directed learners and produce student-centered, integrated and problem-
based programs.
d. Minimum 75% attendance will be mandatory.

The students who fail to complete their Diploma within the maximum duration,

will be declared fail.

9. Exemption (Transfer) for DHPE: 04 Courses will be exempted for candidates
having already done ACMED or CHPE.

10. Course Objectives. The content of the course will enable the students with the
ability to:
a. Teach and support Learning according to principles of modern adult
learning.
b. Contribute to the design and planning of learning activities and programs
of study.
c. Assess students and junior faculty and give feedback to learners.
d. Develop an effective learning environment and learner support system.
e. Be an educational leader and practice as a change agent.
f. Help to plan and evaluate curriculum.
g. Develop research proposal.

11. Outcomes / Competencies. The outcome-based approach shall enable the


participants of the course to be competent in:
a. Performance of teaching tasks
b. Facilitate and manage Learning
c. Plan learning
d. Develop and work with learning resources
e. Assessment and evaluation
f. Developing research proposal
g. Application of an understanding of the principles of education.
h. Incorporation of appropriate attitudes, ethics, and understanding of legal
responsibilities.
i. Application of appropriate decision-making skills and best evidence education.
j. Practicing professionalism

12. Curriculum. The course of study for the Diploma program shall consist of 06
courses. Each course shall be of units, each of two-week duration, consisting of
the following units: -
Course # 1. Educational Psychology and Adult Learning
Conceptions of knowledge, learning, teaching, and assessment.

Learner's dynamics & Learning Objectives

Course # 2. Instruction
Principles of Teaching & Lesson planning
Large group teaching
Small group teaching

Course # 3. Assessment
Characteristics of examination
Written Assessment

Course # 4. Curriculum And Evaluation


Curriculum perspectives, models, and titles.
Curriculum Integration and educational strategies (SPICES).

Course # 6. Synopsis development

13. Assessment . Each course will be assessed based on a written One Best Type
MCQs, or an assignment or practical exercise requiring participants to apply
educational principles to their work settings. The candidate shall score a
minimum of 50% marks to pass.

14. Result Communication. The result shall be declared on a pass / fail basis.

15. Notification of the Result. On successful completion of all the courses of the CHPE /
DHPE program, the Director FUSH shall forward the results to the Controller of
Examinations for notification and certification.

16. Certificates and Result cards. Certificates and result cards will be awarded in a
Certificate Distribution Ceremony organized by DME-FUMC.

17. Course Files. The Program Office will maintain the course files of the students at
DME-FUMC.

18. Course Fee.


a. DHPE: Rs. 80,000.
b. CHPE: Rs. 60,000.
c. 50% waiver off for FUSH faculty.

19. Management and Organization (Student support).


The students shall be mentored and facilitated during their study by course
tutors. In addition, the course tutors shall keep in contact with participants
through face-to-face meetings, WhatsApp, MS Teams, e-mail, and telephone.

20. Academic Integrity. Cheating or using unfair means shall be reported to the
disciplinary committee.

21. Disclaimer. These rules are for the general information of the students desiring to
seek admission to the Foundation University. The University reserves the right to
change any section or part of these rules if required without any prior notice/obligation.

22. General
a. The student shall have to attend at least 75% of the total contact hours
of a course for successful completion.
b. Director Campus shall cancel the admission of students whose progress or
conduct is unsatisfactory at any stage by the HOD.
c. The student shall abide by the rules and regulations framed by the University from
time to time.

d. In the case where the operation of these regulations causes undue hardship to a
student, the HOD may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, relax any of
the same with the approval of Director FUSH.
e. English will be the medium of instruction in all the fields.
