The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce
electricity.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features,
and make comparisons where relevant.

Overview: The striking features

● How many steps/ stages are there?
● Linear / Cyclical
● What does this process require?
Overall, this LINEAR process consists of six key steps, half of which
occur underground and the other half of which take place overground.
Underground, / Beginning with the first half, after cold water is
pumped down 4.5 km beneath the earth’s surface, it reaches an injection
well. The injection well transmits the water through the geothermal zone,
which is composed of hot rocks, before it arrives at a production well.
The newly heated water is thereafter pumped back up via this well to
the surface.

Overground, a condenser is set up to collect the hot water and send its
steam through a narrow opening toward a turbine. The steam powers/
activates the rotation of the turbine, which in turn powers a generator to
which it is connected. This generator finally produces / generates
electricity, which is subsequently transmitted / sent to electrical towers.

The diagram below shows the recycling process of plastics.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features,

and make comparisons where relevant.

The illustration demonstrates the process by which plastics are recycled.

Overall, this cyclical process can be divided into three main stages,
which are the using and discarding of products, followed by the recycling
of plastic bottles, and finally the market reentry of the recycled items.

In the earliest stage, new products displayed in stores are purchased,

used and then thrown away. While bags, along with other garbage, are
sent to landfill sites, plastic bottles, on the other hand, are collected for
recycling purposes.
After being gathered, the bottles are sent to sorting houses in which they
are divided into different categories. Following that, the sorted bottles
are transported to a factory by a truck. In the factory, processing steps
will take place to convert the plastics into new products. These recycled
items are subsequently distributed back to retail shops where they are
bought, used and discarded once again, thereby continuing the process.

After the plastic bottles are collected, they are classified according to
their sizes at sorting houses and then are transported to a processing

repeats itself.

HW: The diagram below shows the life cycle of a species of large
fish called the salmon.

roughly ten years …. three phases of maturity

inhabits three distinct environments

2nd:
● swim to the faster flowing lower river
● remain / dwell for approx 4 years
● transitions into a smolt ⇒ heads for the open sea
3rd:
● 5 years
● adult form - kthuoc
● return to the upper river
⇒ Restart the cycle.
