Digestive system

Why I chose this area of science
This is a great way for everyone to
understand the working of the digestive
system.

Now, We shall begin.


Item used - None (Tongue - Celery)

Function - eating and speaking.


Mouth Parts of the mouth include the lips,
vestibule, mouth cavity, gums, teeth,
hard and soft palate, tongue and
salivary glands.
Item used - Celery

Function - transport food


Oesophagus entering the mouth
through the throat and into
the stomach
Item used - Brinjal

Stomach Function - organ that digests


food,produces enzymes (substances
that create chemical reactions) and
acids (digestive juices).
Item used - Sweet Potato

Function - breaks down, balances,


Liver and creates the nutrients and also
metabolizes drugs into forms that
are easier to use for the rest of the
body or that are nontoxic.
Item used - Grape
Gall Bladder Function - stores and concentrates
bile from the liver.
Item used - Pear

Pancreas Function - makes pancreatic juices


called enzymes. These enzymes
break down sugars, fats, and
starches
Item used - Noodles

Function - helps to further digest

Small intestine food coming from the stomach. It


absorbs nutrients (vitamins,
minerals, carbohydrates, fats,
proteins) and water from food so
they can be used by the body.
Item used - Carrot

Function - absorbing water and


Large intestine electrolytes, producing and
absorbing vitamins, and forming and
propelling feces toward the rectum
for elimination.
Rectum Item used - Carrot

Function - a holding area for the


stool. When the rectum is full, it
pushes the stool out of the body
through the anus.
Item used - Carrot

Function - the end of the


gastrointestinal tract. Your body
feels the urge to have a bowel
Anus movement when nerves in the
muscles of the rectum and the anus
signal that the rectum is full. The
muscles of the internal anal
sphincter relax and the poop moves
from the rectum into the anal canal.
