Marking criteria - Marks will be awarded as follows:

All essays should have a title that appears before the introduction.
The title should not be too long and should indicate the focus of your essay.
Structure --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5%
Your essay should have a clear structure differentiating the introduction, body
paragraphs, and conclusion. Use appropriate cohesive devices to clearly show
these, and also to move from one point to another in the body of the essay.
Content –-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10%
Your essay should directly address the essay question in the introduction,
body, and conclusion. Your supports must have evidence, also be logical
substantive and cohesive. Failure to do this well will cost you marks.
Mechanics – ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5%
Because this is an English Communication course, you are expected to write
good English sentences. Use appropriate language when introducing your
essay, when moving from one paragraph to another, and when ending your essay.
It is also important that you use appropriate words, spell words correctly and
use correct punctuations.

You are also expected to consult expert reports from the literature on the topic you
