Language is a wonderful tool of communication. We use it to share information, build
relationships, and express ourselves. Languages that can cause a person to become emotional
can vary, depending on the context and how the words are delivered. For example, words that
degrade or attack personally can trigger anger or sadness in a person. Likewise with the use of
disparaging or harmful words, it can make someone feel angry or frustrated. In addition, the
use of stimulating words, such as reinforcing certain stereotypes or prejudices, can also arouse
strong emotions. For example, the use of derogatory words to a particular group based on race,
religion, or sexual orientation can cause anger or sadness to the affected person. It is important
to remember that emotional communication can trigger a strong emotional response to the
parties involved, be it anger, sadness, or disappointment. Various aspects of language that can
trigger emotions, such as:

A. High and harsh tone of speech


A high and harsh tone of speech can give the impression of violence or aggression in
communication. When a person uses a high tone of speech, especially if it is
accompanied by a loud intonation, it can make the interlocutor feel attacked or
intimidated. This can trigger an increased defensive or defensive reaction from the
interlocutor, which can lead to conflict or arguments. A high, harsh tone can also convey
disobedience or disapproval in a disrespectful manner. For example, in situations where
there is tension or conflict, a high and harsh tone of speech can increase tension and
make the situation even more difficult to resolve peacefully.
B. Word options
Words that can make people emotional vary depending on the context and sensitivity
of the individual, but there are some that can generally trigger strong emotional
reactions. For example, derogatory words such as "dumb", "weak", or "useless" can
hurt a person's feelings and provoke anger or sadness. Likewise, words that degrade
certain groups based on race, religion, or sexual orientation. Challenging or threatening
words can also make people emotional, such as "don't bother me" or "don't ever do that
again". In addition, words containing lies or betrayal, such as "I don't care" or "I never
loved you", can also cause a very emotional feeling.
C. Personal attack language
Personal attack language is like a sharp weapon in communication. When people use
Personal attack language, they usually directly attack others with harsh, piercing, and
often thoughtless words. This can be a direct insult to a person, a derogatory comment,
or even a negative assessment of the person's physical appearance, personality, or habits.
What makes it dangerous, often this conversation with Personal attack language is not
constructive at all. It's not just about criticism, it's more about destroying other people's
pride and self-confidence. For example, by insulting someone directly regardless of
how others feel or spreading gossip that can damage one's reputation. Personal Attack
Language is also common online, where people feel more free to attack without having
to take direct responsibility for their words or actions. This could lead to greater conflict
and harming many people. So, avoid using Personal Attack language in everyday
conversations as much as possible. It is better to focus on building positive and
supportive relationships with each other, rather than hurting each other with harsh and
meaningless words.
D. Cultural sensitivity
Cultural sensitivity is the awareness of cultural differences and values held by people
from different backgrounds. When one does not pay attention to or ignore cultural
sensitivity in communication, it may cause others to become emotional or offended.
This occurs when a person uses language or performs actions that do not respect or
value the cultural values of others. For example, when a person makes a joke that insults
or degrades a particular culture or religion, it can be very painful for people who come
from that culture or religion. The same is true of using words or terms that are
considered rude or inappropriate in certain cultures, regardless of their impact. When
cultural sensitivity is ignored, it can cause conflict and worsen relationships between
individuals or between groups. People who feel unappreciated or disrespected by
cultural values tend to feel angry, sad, or even emotionally offended.
